I was, and I am. But the sad fact is that my career opportunities were limited with my present employer. I am also starting to have issues with the plant manager, who once he got a strong leader in place, which he claimed he wanted (me), he switched faces and started making every effort to chop my knees out from under me.

I'm not one to stay at a party where I'm not wanted. This past week really proved it to me, so I accepted the offer from the State. It's a pay cut, but not a big one, and it's less hours with a four on four off schedule. Bennies are excellent as well.

Atta boy.

True story, a guy dropped dead at the winder, and the plant manager at the time dragged him off a few feet and called up the asst winderman before he called 911.

Tarco is ruthless. I actually enjoy the environment because it's straight up.

.. sounds like a vocation more tailored to your skills and personality than overseeing a production line hoping that no fingers get chopped off on your shift. :d-day:

I have a few friends that work or have worked at the prison around here in VA. The schedule they work is the best. They work 7 days in 14. One week they work on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and are off on Wednesday and Thursday. The next week they only work on Wednesday and Thursday.

On top of that, they start out with about 30 days they can take off for vacation, sick, ect. You could be off 14 or 15 weeks each year.

The pay is not the greatest though. I think they get started at a little under $30,000 and the state of VA has frozen all raises for the last two years I think.

I was a scab during a jail strike a few years back. Had a lot of fun.
