Did you Know?......

NFL draft's first round moves to Thursday night for 2010

National Football League

Ben Liebenberg / NFL.com
The NFL's 75th draft will undergo a major change, shifting back two days to be held in primetime.
Date and time breakdown for 2010 NFL Draft

Date
Time*
Round 1 Thursday, April 22 7:30-11 p.m. ET
Rounds 2-3 Friday, April 23 6:30-11 p.m. ET
Rounds 4-7 Saturday, April 24 10 a.m.-6 p.m. ET
* Approximate end times
The NFL draft will kick off in prime time for the first time in 2010, it was announced Thursday. The first round of the 2010 NFL Draft will start on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET, with the second and third rounds on Friday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by Rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m. ET.

The draft will continue to be televised by ESPN and NFL Network. The 2010 NFL Draft -- the 75th draft in NFL history -- again will be held at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

"We continue to look for ways to make the draft more accessible to more fans," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "Moving the first round to prime time on Thursday night will make the first round of the draft available to fans on what is typically the most-watched night of television."

The 2009 NFL Draft (Saturday, April 25-Sunday, April 26) drew a record 39 million viewers on NFL Network, ESPN and ESPN2. Total NFL Draft viewership increased 66 percent from 2001 to 2009 (from 23.5 million to 39 million).

The first round of last year's draft on ESPN and NFL Network drew a combined average of 6.3 million viewers, topping all basketball, hockey and baseball games that weekend.

The NFL draft was a Saturday-Sunday event from 1995 to 2009. It took place on Sunday and Monday from 1988 to 1994, and prior to 1988, it was held on one or two weekdays.

I think if McClain is there we snag him. If not we trade down and get Jerry Hughes, Dan Williams or Brandon Spikes.

If McClain isn't there I would like to get Bryant but I just don't know how realistic that is.

Then in the second we draft our future #1 WR. Lafell or Benn should both be there. I'd rather have Benn but Lafell might due.

McClain or Spiller are the two biggest impact players we could get!

Dez Bryant please. McClain would be great, but you know he's going to Denver.

Parcells hates WR and Henning is senile, so chances are we draft someone to fill Pat White's spot if he has any longterm brain problems.

i think the consensus here is to get one of mclain, dez bryant, or c.j. spiller and i agree 100%. if we get any of those guys, expecially bryant or spiller for our offense, ill be estatic.

Spiller is a luxury, not a need. I highly doubt McClain will last to #12 or whatever spot we're designated to get, and I'm not sold on Dez Bryant. There are a number of college players who absolutely starred in their Junior year only to see their draft spot fall their Senior year. And Bryant only played 3 games his senior year... Anyone remember how Brian Brohm fell from being a top-10 pick to being picked in the later rounds of the draft?

I say trade down (picking up a second while at it), and take Earl Thomas. Then, wait (or trade up) for either Jermaine Gresham and/or Brandon Spikes.

I just realized that Dez Bryant is now a Junior, which makes it worse because we have a year less of tapes to watch.

the tape you can see is very good...

dez bryant...highlights/lowlights 08-09

i love this guy...what stands out is in the red zone he high points the ball on jump balls he goes up and gets it...i see explosion and acceleration and what i really like is it takes multiple defenders to tackle him...this guy has yards after catch written all over him...plus hands also...no alligator arming the ball like ginn

the only thing i don't like is i'd like him to be more decisive when he cuts especially on the slant routes...he allows the db to get inside of him sometimes when with his size and strength and explosion he should always beat the db to the spot but that's coachable...

stud he's nfl ready right now and would be our best wr on the roster from day 1

whens the last time it took multiple defenders to tackle one of our wrs???

Later rounds? Brohm went to GB in the 2nd Round right after we took Henne from memory?

I take your point though.

If they resign Ronnie, then it's a luxury pick.

And Ronnie said on he's show he's 99.9% sure he'll be a Dolphin next year, and years from now.

I think his 1480 receiving yards and 19 TD's in 2008 speak for themselves.

The kid is a playmaker. Anyone who is doubting that obviously hasn't watched Dez Bryant play or just want to find somebody to complain about. The kid will be a #1 WR in the NFL. And I think the Dolphins would be lucky for him to fall to #12

you have to be careful of looking #s and thinking impact nfl player but in dez bryants case i think it's more than justified with what i've seen...i think the tape is exactly what our offense is missing and needs

I'm not judging simply by the numbers, I've probably followed his career more than most people. I just use those numbers as justification for his ability.

He's a freak of nature and his 2008 season showed JUST WHAT HE IS CAPABLE OF.

And remember, he was a sophmore then. If he would've played this year, he probably would've done better. That is unheard of.

Dez Bryant in build and ability is very similar to the kind of player Hakeem Nicks was at UNC. Only difference is Bryant put up better numbers, is much strong, and has a better ability to catch the deep ball. Basically, he is exactly what this team needs.

The guy is legit. no character issues and it'd be nice to develop our own WR and not get a diva type. His white lie where he thought he did something wrong and did absolutely nothing wrong was the best thing that couldve happened. if he played his junior year, imo he would be a top 5 pick.

I would say he is like a mix between Andre and Roddy white, maybe a brandon marshall type?

Andre Johnson: 6'3 223 lbs 4.45 40 yd dash

Dez Bryant: 6'2 215 lbs 4.52 40 yd dash

Eric Berry please. I don't want to gamble a first on a WR especially with so many good ones available in FA this year.

You needed to have lost 12 games to have a shot at him. He'll be a Buccaneer next year. :(

1st round pretty much boils down to Dez or McClain or Spikes. We probably won't get McClain if Denver is so high on him. But the Ravens were the only team that could desperately use someone like Dez. Luckily, we'll be drafting ahead of them.

WR talent is deep next year though, so that's also something to consider.
