McKnight's declared for the pros before the fit hits the shan, the scrutiny virus attached to Tim Floyd's basketball program is likely to spread to USC's cash cow, and Pete's been outed shtupping a grad student. Good time to leave, especially for a division that's up for grabs every year.

Terrible decision. A team as talented and with as much heritage as USC can withstand minor sanctions and short term embarrassment. And that's all it would be. This is hardly SMU revisited.

Carroll might be considered a bum in a year, if he takes the Seattle job and flops. You can hear it already, "Anyone could win big with the talent he had at USC."

Yeah, disregard names like Paul Hackett.

If Tiger Woods can freefall within weeks, Pete Carroll is vulnerable in a lesser period, like 0-1.

John McKay regretted leaving USC for the Buccs. And Robinson's reputation was never as high as his first stint at USC. Carroll should have waded this out and let 10 more years as a college coach define his legacy.

Not to mention the pay cut that McKnight is going to take by going pro

I'd be willing to bet that SC gets hit with penalties soon.
