Somedays it sucks
other days it's great
anyone know any secrets to a perfect one
I put this in the depths because of the subject matter

I've been with my wife for 14 years. Does that count as a success? If it does, here's the secrets;

-Your life is no longer about just you. Stop being a selfish ID based turd.
-No matter what she says, she's going to want kids 90% of the time. Expect it.
-Choose your mistakes carefully, because she'll never forget them.
-Communicate. Remember, somtimes stuff can be your fault, even if it's not.
-After 2 years or so, it's work.
-Make sure you enjoy some of the same things, because after 5 years, it's largely about having somone to go through the rest of your life with.
-Communicate. It doesn't make you less of a man to empathize.

Oh man, did you ever nail THAT! It's incredible how they dredge up what you might have mindlessly mentioned in passing and forgot about soon after, for use as ammunition 10 years later!

(While still together with my last wife, when folks would inquire how long we've been married, my stock answer was: "A good 10 years....and out of 14, that's not too bad a ratio!)"
