View Full Version : Dolphins could find WR Eric Decker under the radar

Every year an untimely injury results in a quality player falling in the NFL Draft. This year, among the most intriguing guys to meet that criteria is Minnesota wide receiver Eric Decker, who remains slowed by a Lisfranc foot injury he suffered last October. Dolfans will recall that running back Ronnie Brown also was lost with a Lisfranc injury, going down Nov. 15 against Tampa Bay. Brown still isn’t at full speed, though he appeared to be getting close last time we talked to him during Super Bowl week.

A 6-foot-3, 217-pounder with size and speed, Decker said at the NFL Scouting Combine last week that he will undergo another surgery March 15 and, while he won’t be able to run until June, expects to be at full speed by training camp. But he was unable to do any of the running or agility drills last week, and teams in need of a receiver might be inclined to look elsewhere. NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock said that would be a mistake. “I think somebody’s going to steal him,” Mayock said. “I’ve done a lot of work on him and he’s a heckuva player.”

From what I have seen, he doesn't have breakout speed but has GREAT hands. He catches whatever comes at him. Seems like a bigger version of Camarillo. But I am no draft guru with tons of knowledge on these players.

What I do know is that he does have some credentials that could add to the Wildcat!

Can't wait to hear people's mixed reactions on this guy lol

Here's a little more tape on him:

I'm a big fan of Decker. And I agree he'll be a steal for whoever gets him. Unfortunately, I see him as more of a possession type guy than a playmaker/YAC type guy, something we have too many of. But I certainly wouldn't be mad if we drafted him because he is a red zone threat, and will go up and get the ball. He's a very smart player, tough, great hands and routes. In fact, I wouldn't be surprused in the least if we drafted him because he's a Parcells type player.

I feel like we have 3 Deckers... and draft him instead of who?

I'm a Decker fan and whoever he goes to is going to get a solid player.

Again, Eric Decker plays alot like Wes Welker. I like him as a player for a lot of teams, but the Dolphins have a lot of guys like Decker. I'll pass, even though I'm a fan. The only WR I'd want to draft in the first 4 rounds would be Bryant or Tate, and anything after that I don't see any #1 WR possibilities in this draft. Decker is another under the radar guys who could become that 80 catch guy out of the slot and catching a lot of bubble screens.

Decker is the WR i want if we dont get Dez... although i also like the GT WR.. but Decker has Parcells Written all over him from the moment i saw him play this year...
