A college atheist group is offering students pornography in exchange for Bibles.

Atheist Agenda calls the exchange "Smut for Smut," prompting prayers and protests from Christian students at the University of Texas San Antonio campus.

Student Monica Cornado says it's offensive to compare pornography to "the Word of God."

University officials say the atheist group has the right to conduct the swap.

Porn for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? Seems fair.

the school is right- the students do have that right

if I have to walk by huge f'n posters on the highways growing graphic abortions, and huge posters in the free speech areas of my school showing the same thing, I think Christians could live with this.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is.

1. Wow, atheists have a problem with the Bible? I'm in shock.

2. If you're a college student, looking for porn, and are having a hard time finding it...there is probably something else wrong with you.

3. If you are a Christian and you are willing to trade a Bible for porn, there is definitely something wrong with your relationship with God (which is, IMHO, the real problem).

IMHO, atheism is becoming more and more like a religion itself, complete with proselytizing efforts and fanatic faith filled followers (and apologists).

I wish that I'd seen this. Then again, I'm a big fan of street theatre. That had to be a funny scene.

I wonder how the event turned out?

Atheism is on par with any other religion. Any absolute belief based on projection or faith without a true ability to back it up with supporting facts and evidence is foolish.

At least some people will finally get some use out of their Bible.

Not at all. Atheism is not always antitheism. Atheism is the natural order of things, it takes faith to move beyond into a religion of some type.

You are mixing up Atheism and Agnosticism.

Agnosticism is atheism for wusses. You either believe in a God or you do not. Agnostics are atheists but do not want the stigma.

You must be a real hard-***, though.

Say what now?

If someone asks whether or not you believe in God, it is a yes or no answer. Saying that you don't know means that you do not believe. Belief is an act of faith that religious people take, while atheists simply do not. Of course, there are atheists who attempt to affirm that there is no God, but those are anti-theists, and only a branch of wider atheism.

Why do I have to assert absolutely that I believe there is a God or that I believe there isn't one? I, in complete honesty, have no idea. And neither do you. Prove to me there is no God. And on the other hand, prove to me there is a God. Neither can be proved with factual evidence, and this is why I consider myself a 'wussified' agnostic. I believe what can be confirmed with my own eyes.

See, there you go again, adding your own definitions. Atheism is not saying there is proof of no God, just that one does not believe in God. Conversely, most religious people would say that they simply believe in God, but they do not know. You either believe or you don't, and if you don't, you are an atheist.

It's a complex set of beliefs dependent on a number of notions. You haven't spoken to enough religious people if you think that most of them will tell you that they 'don't know'. I've run into quite the opposite, actually.

I, personally, see the possibility of a higher power. But I mostly lean towards there not being one. This does not categorize me as an atheist, this would put me under agnostic. If you can't get that at this point, I'm not going to bother. Look up the 2 definitions. Completely different. It's not a black and white issue as you seem to be determined to make it.

Porn is not that hard to find I don't understand the big deal, I should get something better in return.
