If Berry drops to us at 12, I would be delighted, if not I would still be happy with Earl Thomas. If then Mays drops to us in 2nd, do we take him? I would love to but I think we got more pressing needs at OLB and NT, but with Bell creeping up in age and Mays being able to cover the strong nickel and possibly come in at LB/SS for 1st year in passing/blitzing siyuations, I would love the idea for the next 10 yrs of a secondary with the names of:-

SS T.Mays
FS E.Berry
CB V.Davis
CB S.Smith.

As I said, this is more of a dream for future years as IMO we have bigger needs at NT, OLB and WR........this year

We could just sign Roy Williams for the minimum if we wanted a safety that couldn't cover.

Agree, he has bust written all over him.

I would love either Berry or Thomas. They are both studs IMO.

I think Mays is another Yeremiah Bell. Big hard-hitter, really fast.

There's another one of those that is supposed to go later in the draft that I can imagine the FO taking to back up/replace Yeremiah, and that's Kam Chancellor.

Have a feeling that Nolan wants a veteran presence at FS. But, we'll see.

Taylor Mays is 2010's Vernon Gholston.

i just hope a top 10 team is dumb enough to draft him like the jets were with gholston...

Yeah he cant cover, but there is something about running a 4.3 consistantly at 230 lbs and a hitter that you just cannot ignore.

Dude made a play in Senior bowl. I would say check his attitude/knowledge and see if he fits what Nolan wants before I say no way. Its a thing called "due diligence".

1. I like your new mock better than your old one.
2. Unless Mays in there in the 6th, what can we do with him?

My old one changed due to Dansby and new info. They change often.

I dont understand about Mays and the 6th. If your refering to 6th round. Your off your rocker. Thats just your opinion bloviating.

Mays wouldn't be a bad SS IMO. He has all the abilitys to be a great saftey with the right coaching and his ability he could be one of the better SS's in the league IMO.

No, I'm serious. I wouldn't draft T. Mays before the 6th. We already have a SS. There will be real football players available in the 1st through 4th that will help our team. We aren't the Raiders.

Ok, I understand that.

I dont think we are after Mays but like I said before, due diligence and how many guys can run a 4.3 consistantly at 230? Not many.

Nothing wrong with due diligence. Was just saying.

Strange that USC would start someone at safety that can't cover at all.

Exactly the comparison I came up with. Workout warrior.

People said the same thing about Brian Cushing last year...workout warrior, steroid allegations and we all know the season Cushing had
133 tackles
4 sacks
1 safety
4 interceptions
2 forced fumbles...from an outside linebacker
who people said was a workout warrior

cushing looked better on tape than taylor mays does...but i was no cushing fan in last years draft i must admit...
