Im starting to think hes not a complete lost cause... maybe throw a few weight incentives in his contract and he will be fine... Just a thought

PS by no means i mean to consider taking him in the first round.

I really hope he is there in the 2nd. He had just as big of impact on that Alabama defense as McClain did if not more.

If I knew we had to take a NT at #12 and it was between Cody and Williams. I'd just take close my eyes and take Cody. Guy has the ability to be dominant with the right guidance and coaching.

Williams is just probably the least exciting pick in the 1st round. Although I wouldn't complain because I know he would help us.

He may be working his way back into the late 1st round.

His weight is a HUGE issue and we all know Parcells and Ireland do not like overweight guys....NO way we take Cody after they had to deal with the EXACT same issues with Solai...

BUT The fact that he already played in a 3-4 is what sells me on him...he could be the closest thing to an immediate impact player at NT.

I just see that he has some desire to get to a decent NT weight. Hes willing to work. Now what scares me is that he might just be doing it for his draft stock. Who knows what happens after he gets money. Which is why i wouldnt take him in the first round.

There is no denying the guys talent, just his work ethic concerns me.

I don't want Williams in the 1st or 2nd or Cody in the 1st or 2nd, but under the scenario that I had to choose one in the 1st, I might take Cody.

Reason: Cody actually has the talent to back up the selection. He's hit or miss, but if you hit with him, he more or less justifies the pick. Best case for Williams: he almost lives up to the pick. He's just a very average talent. I don't get the love affair with DW.

The games I have watched Dan Williams play, he does NOT impress me. He gets shoved backwards and moved out of the play far too often. He is NOT a guy who is going to split a doubleteam and I have seen many plays where one o-lineman was dominating him easily.

Dan Williams is better...

Is he just losing the weight because he has an agent that is on his butt to get ready for the draft or is he self-motivated? I would lean toward the former. I think once he gets out on his own he'll revert back to the form he had before he was under so much scrutiny. Remember Jamie Nails, he was a good player, but could not push the plate away at the dinner table. I think that is what your are looking at with Cody.

Id trade one of our 6th round picks to trade up a few spots to the top of the 2nd round to ENSURE that you get Mt. Cody. The guy knows the 3-4 NT position inside out, no training necessary & he played it VERY WELL in the SEC which is the conference most similar in athletic ability to the NFL....aka INSTANT starter at NT!! GET CODY!!!

Cody measured in at 6'4" 348 pounds and did 32 reps on the bench press, which is better then I thought he would do

I got news for ya all. He will be under 340 by draft day at this rate. He is legit 3-4 NT. He is a baller any way you slice it.

If Cody could keep his weight down and turn his flab into muscle he could be a player.

Look guys he showed up at Bama near 400lbs,Saban told him to get down to 350 -360 to play and he did. He got down to as low as 349 or so and he maintained that weight + or - 10lbs or so for the last two years. I don't think his weight is a big issue, the guy can flat out eat up blockers and unlike Williams he doesn't go backwards much.

Everyone says this and it is a concern.

But the facts are - he was around 420 when Nick Saban started recruiting him. He told him to get under 400 lbs. and he would be given a scholarship. Cody did it and then lost 30 more pounds by that fall. He then kept his weight under the limit Alabama coaches set for him during both seasons.

Its a concern, but he has done much better than most people think.

Cody could go from 354 at the combine to 349 at his pro day simply by taking a big dump before he got on the scale! Serious he has a minimum of 20lbs of food floating in his intestines and colon!

there's been a report that he actually did only 22 reps which is horrible.....and what's worst is that they're saying that he lost muscle due to the lbs he lost......I would never take a chance on this guy in round one or 2

Yeah initially they said 32 reps but now say only 22 reps. Heck of a difference. 22 reps is not real good for a 348 pound d-lineman

If we pick up Cody, first thing he needs to do is head over to the Miami institute for breast reduction surgery. Or maybe he knocks people out that way with the swim move. Still, all that loose skin he has can't be good for weight. Even if he lost most of his bodyfat, he'd still have to carry around all that skin.

He needs to hire a fitness guy and get his fat butt in the weight room and melt some of that flab and replace it with muscle

Nope - Cody did 22 bench press reps at Alabama Pro Day, here is the link

http://blogs.nfl.com/category/pro-days/
Defensive tackle Terrence Cody weighed 349 pounds, ran 5.64 and 5.62 in the 40, 22-inch vertical leap, 7-9 broad jump, kept short shuttle and three-cone drill times from the combine and had 22 bench press reps.

I'd rather draft NT Cam Thomas in the second round, he's as strong as an Ox and is a non-movable WALL on the line.
