View Full Version : Morgan Burnett

Im suprised nothing was said about him he abslutely lit up his pro day. A solid second round FS prospect who i have liked for a while this was just icing on the cake. Georgia Tech FS Morgan Burnett officially ran a 4.45 forty-yard dash at the Yellow Jackets' Monday Pro Day.

He was also impressive with a 39.5-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump. Burnett, a serious playmaker in college, is healthy after sitting out drills at the Combine due to a hamstring injury. There were question marks about his athleticism, so the elite numbers help. Burnett is a second-round prospect. That vertical and broad jump show explosion.

he definitely ran faster than i expected...i'd say he's a 4.5 flat guy had he run at the combine...

either way i went in thinking he was a like 4.6

even at 4.5 with those other measurables plus his tape id love takin him in the second rd he can cover as well as come up and tackle.

i'm personally not overwhelmed with his tape...kind of has a jack of all trades master of none look to me...

one of the guys i think will be a solid FS in the NFL. he can actually cover but isn't one dimensional. if we pass on FS in the 1st, i like him or nate allen in the 2nd.

Yup, if Thomas and Berry go before the 12th pick, and that is very possible, I'm all for drafting Burnett.

Id like to know how good his burst speed is, anyone got the times on the agility drills?

I don't know about shuttle times, etc....but he had a 39 1/2" vertical and an 11' broad jump at his pro day...

The vertical would've tied him with Reshad Jones at the combine and the broad jump would've been tops for safeties (Eric Berry had a 10' 10" broad jump at the combine)

As I've mentioned previously reguarding Burnett....I'm typically not a huge fan of the "rovers" in these college defenses.....but Burnett looks like he could play either safety spot IMO.....not great at anything..but good at a few things...

You also have to keep in mind how pitiful GT's defensive line was this year....atrocious outside of Derrick Morgan....he basically had to do it all on his own....not nearly the pass rush they had the previous year....I don't think anybody on GT's line had more than 2 sacks other than Morgan.....which caused Burnett's production to slip a bit from the previous season..

I'm a fan of Burnett. Wouldn't be mad at all if we selected him in round 2.

Not at #12 though, right?
