Was just wondering what you guys thought of this guy. At 6'3", 222lbs, he has the size we are looking for, and has some pretty good speed, just takes some time to get up too it. He is a strider, so he has problems dipping his hips coming out of his breaks for a more explosive route. On the upside, again has pretty good speed, very soft hands, and is a smart player. If figure if we can snag him in the 3rd, it would be very much worth our while. Opnions?

Not sure who he is, but I'll be willing to bet that this thread will be getting moved shortly.

And Jordan Shipley too! We can start a trend by calling our WRs the great white hope.

Love the kid but don't want him on the Dolphins.

At best I'd see him as another Greg Camarillo or Brian Hartline, he could probably work as a slot receiver, but we don't need another slot receiver.

Right now we have a whole team of slot receivers. We need a stud, no need to waste draft picks on any receivers after round 2. We need those picks to bolster our D.

I wouldnt mind him as an UDFA, but since he has a contract with a baseball team, I dont think he goes that route.

The only receivers I see the Dolphins being interested would be either guys that have return ability or guys that have the potential to be #1's at the next level. That has been their pattern when it comes to their interviews, visits, the players they've looked at, etc.

Riley Cooper doesn't fit either of those descriptions.

Return ability, did someone say Mardy Gilyard? :chuckle:

CK what are the reports on Hernandez the TE out of UF. Last year it was hero or zero with this kid, but he does have that freakish athletic ability at TE like a Gonzo.

Hes a big white boy WR, no thanks. Im not being racist because im white and so I can bash other white boys in the NFL. The fact is their isnt any successful big white boy WR's in the NFL. The last that was drafted high was Matt Jones, and he sucked. the better white WR's are the smaller guys like Wes Welker and Brian Hartline. Riley Cooper is just a solid #2 WR at best in the NFL and we have plenty of those already

I doubt teams are drafting by skin color.

Can you name a white WR who is 6'3" and has been a very successful #1 WR in the NFL?

Nope, they are all #2 or #3 WRs

Once again, we don't need yet another number 2 or 3 WR....what we need is a guy that has the potential to be a number 1 and/or can make big plays....Bryant,Thomas,Benn and Golden boy are the only ones I think we'd take high....if not any of them then it might be they take a chance on a guy with potential in the later rounds.

Ozzy rules!!

Cooper will be an outstanding #2 or #3 guy. He's not a #1 guy. I love Coop (and so glad he's picking football over baseball). Great great great blocker, great speed, great hands w/ circus catch abilities (albeit sometimes drops the easy ones). Not a return guy. And also doesn't have the upside to be a #1 guy in my eyes. I can't pinpoint exactly why, I just don't see him as a #1. So for the Dolphins, no thanks.

I don't know if I see him like a Gonzalez. My problem with him is even though he's small, he's not quite "freak" in his athleticism and he doesn't max out his frame in blocking.

For instance, Dorin Dickerson may be small, but that guy gets every ounce out of his frame from a blocking standpoint, and I'd call him legitimately a better blocker than Hernandez. You can have a Dorin Dickerson get bigger and you know it's not just going to make him slower, it'll also make him a more effective blocker. Can you do that with Aaron Hernandez? Open question. I don't know the answer.

Yea it would be nice to draft Cooper but I do see him as a number two..He was Tebow's favorite target..Camarillo won't be around forever so you never know..I would sure be satisfied with Dez Bryant and the 12th pick if he's there..

I never said there were any. That doesn't mean there can't be.

But if a team feels a certain WR is right for their program I doubt they are going to take a second look and pass on him because he is white. \

You remind me of people in the 90's who say that African Americans can't be QB's. There weren't many but over time you saw more pop up and become successful.

I thought Riley Cooper was going to be a baseball player like that Jeff Samardzija guy from Notre Dame a few years back (I think he is now with the Cubs). We already have two Riley Coopers on this team .....Camarillo and Hartline. This guy is not a #1 WR so I doubt we would give him a look.

finnegan of the atlanta falcons comes to mind... he has an "okay" career but you can't help but wonder what he could've become with a healthy knee... i really liked him as a receiver

but yeah, there aren't a lot

Ted Ginn is as white as they come? :chuckle:

Seriously, Didn't Cooper have a better than expected 40 time @ UF's pro day? This IMO was more intriguing than Timmy's improved mechanics.

Because he is a White WR

that automatically rules him out for being a #1 guy

Thats still true

how many have won a super bowl? and how many are starting right now?

The few that are starting right now are probably on their way out. ala J. Russel, J. Campbell, D. Mcnabb, and D. Garrard

Vince young is probably the only whos job is safe, and even he has struggled

I can't stand Riley Cooper. Yeah, I'm a Gator Hater to the core but this guy is nothing but a punk *** with a bad attitude.

Coopers a good player with no attitude problem at all. He's a great athelete, but not right for the Fins. He chose Football over Baseball and could be a pro in either.

Your sig makes me think you play for the other team - not that there's anything wrong with that...

Riley had a contract with the Rangers but chose football instead. He has a lot of upside, but isn't what we're looking for in a WR. Like someone already said, we already have him on this team and he wears #82. Good speed and size and a good blocker. It's really weird though. Sometimes he'll make the acrobatic one-handed catch or the big one on 3rd down, and then the next series he'll drop a gimmie.

Brian Hartline is 6'2. Kevin Walter is another "big white boy" and hes pretty decent. just sayin.....

Ed McCaffrey was pretty good. Wasn't a number one because he was across from a hall of famer but he could have been.
