Adam_Schefter Apparently Brandon Marshall isn't the only WR on the Seahawks radar. Seattle HC Pete Carroll spent Tuesday at Dez Bryant's Pro Day.

Guys there is no way in hell after today this kid is there at 12. The kid looks like a physical specimen and if he runs in the 4.3s he won't pass the Hawks.

They have two 1st RD picks. Maybe they like him at 14. I don't think we have a great shot of landing Bryant, but there's always a chance. Same for Berry.

The Seahawks need a qb more then they need a wr...seriously Charlie Whitehurst as your # 1 qb? Hasselbeck is beat up and washed up.If Bryant was to get drafted by Seattle who is gonna get him the ball? They also have a beat up OL. There is still hope Bryant lands in Miami, have faith.

Matt is still a pretty solid QB, they just gave compensation for Charlie and are fixing their O-line. If not the Hawks, the Bucs need a WR baaaaaddddd

Thos whole Bryant thing reminds me of the Brady Quinn draft where we are all saying Brady would never fall to us at 9.Sure enought he falls and we dont pick him not that Brady turned out to be anything.I just got that same vibe even though its a different front office. If he is there at 12 and we pass on him I wonder how we all will react

If he runs a 4.3 i doubt he even get out of the top 5 but i am going to keep dreaming about him in Miami untill after the draft

4.57 unofficial we still have a chance.

Initial reports on Dez Bryant's 40-yard dash are not encouraging. One scout in attendance texted that Bryant clocked an unconfirmed 4.57.

Interesting report if true.

If that's really his 40 time from today then Miami definitely has a shot at him at #12.

But even if we do the question is would we even take him?

4.57. Too slow. Will never make it.

But, really. Great news. I expected him to clock in around 4.5, so this changes nothing for me. After Berry, Bryant is the best talent at a position we need.

Patrick Turner ran the same 40 time as Dez at his Pro Day.

Heh

4.58 and 4.57 - doesn't get closer than that.

It was an irrational fantasy to expect Bill Parcells to select a WR first round after his defense was among the worst in the league the year before. I just don't understand why anyone would think Dez is even in the discussion for our pick at #12.

Guess his agent spread the rumor of 4.32 to try and get more people to show up to the workout. He needs to fire his agent.

I'm told the Dolphins, unlike many teams, are not represented by any big names at Dez Bryant's Pro Day. No Jeff Ireland. No Bill Parcells.

Jeff_Darlington
Just don't read too much into no big names, though. Area & nat'l scouts for Miami ARE in attendance. The big wigs could have other chances.

Indeed, @robi2184, the Dolphins also did not send their big wigs to Jake Long's Pro Day. They had one scout on hand, while St. Louis had 12.

Maybe CK or Boomer can help us here, but how many of the WR who have ran in the 4.5 or worse gone to be real good WR in the Pro. I know about Jerry Rice, but who else recently.

Well the most famous around these parts is Anquan Boldin who was in the upper 4.7 range.

I believe Larry Fitzgerald ran around 4.5-4.6. He's ok I guess if you like that type of WR :)

I believe Fitzgerald ran in the 4.5's.

Also, I've said for a while that Bryant reminds me of a cross between TO and Boldin. Not as fast as TO, faster than Boldin. But, all three play with a thrashing style - for lack of a better term. There's a suddenness in and out of breaks and a strength and suddenness when they have the ball in their hands.

Yeah, Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 @ his combine... the 49ers traded up for him anyway, because they knew he was a player.

There's a rumor that Dez' broad jump was a monstrous 11'1". The best I ever saw was Calvin Johnson's 11'7". Getting 11+ is rare.

CK ARE U SERIOUS and can you post the link to that on here.

Bryant began the workouts Tuesday in his hometown of Lufkin, Texas, with the 40, posting times of 4.52, 4.68 and 4.52. He was asked to run the third time due to the discrepancy between the first two times.

Early during his position drills, Bryant did drop some passes, but he looked much better after getting into the flow of the drills with former Oklahoma State QB Bobby Reid.

The notable NFL coaches and executives in attendance today include Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, coach Mike Singletary and director of player personnel Trent Baalke of the 49ers, Packers coach Mike McCarthy and director of college scouting John Dorsey, Ravens wide receivers coach Jim Hostler, Bucs wide receivers coach Eric Yarber and Raiders scout Cliff Branch.

Still no guarentee he will there at 12. Alot of teams under us still like this kid. One thing is for sure it seems a top ten talent will drop to 12.

Correct on Fitz. Here's his pro day numbers.

Fitzgerald (6-3 1/8, 221) ran his 40s in 4.51 and 4.47. He added 20 strength reps, a 35-inch vertical, a 10-1 long jump, a 4.27 short shuttle and a 6.97 three-cone drill

I've always paid more attention to the short shuttle and 3-cone times cause there a better indicator of agility, acceleration and explosion. Football's not played in a straight line. Although when you get to the high 4.6's or slower then you kind of have to wonder even though Boldin has been extremely good, when healthy, is more the exception than the norm.

Hines Ward ran 4.58
Brandon Marshall ran 4.57
Marques Colston ran 4.55
Hakeem Nicks ran 4.54 at the combine (he's a guy I wanted last year)

Didn't know that. I think wrestling is garbage but I understand some people like...actually a lot of people like it.

I've been using that s/n since about 2000-2001 though.

Maybe this is just me, but I have always thought that skinny guys like Ginn run in the 4.3, where guys like Bryant, Fitz, Boldin, and Marshall are not gonna post numbers in the 4.3.

When I look at Bryant his speed is important, but Im paying more attention at how physical he can be. How high can he jump and his bench press.

I'm reading a 38" vertical.
