Here’s an intriguing nugget related to the Dolphins’ plans for the upcoming draft: Tennessee defensive tackle Dan Williams has met with three teams so far, and Miami is not among them.
“I’m hoping to hear from them, but I haven’t so far,” Williams said Friday, adding that he has met with Washington, New England and San Diego.

Not too suprising. I never thought they'd be too interested in drafting a NT at number 12. I really think they are content with Soliai starting and Ferguson and a late round rookie as back ups.

he was on the south squad for the senior bowl game...our coaching staff got more than just a 15 minute interview with him...they got a week to check out his practice habits and get to know him off the field...i don't think we've made overtures at terrence cody either...and i think its the same reason...we had a week already to get to know them...

Which actually may be a tell tell that we ARE going to draft Dan Williams.

They spent a lot of time with Williams at the Senior Bowl so there's no reason to bring him in for a visit

LOL, yeah he was there. Didn't stand out. Geno Atkins is a beast.

Geno is a beast but he is too small for NT at just 6'1 1/4" and 293 pounds

Maybe. But Jay Ratliffe isn't exactly a big guy. Neither is Kelly Gregg. Both play NT.

the title of this thread is wrong to begin with.

it should have been DT dan willams, not NT dan williams
as he is NOT a nt and has never played the position.

maybe we havnt met with him becaue we have no need for a 4-3 dt?

maybe?

Geno is more of a Defensive End or a DT for a system that shoots gaps. I think he'd be totally engulfed if playing head up on a big physical lineman or getting doubleteamed

Some teams are definately looking at hims at NT. I dont see Williams to us at 12.

Atkins isn't too small. These guys love those 6'1, 300 pound nose tackles. But Geno's style is much more of a one gap, quick penetrating thing, where a nose's job is to be able to bend the back and hold up double teams. He'd be a very good fit for teams like Indy and New Orleans.

isn't jay ratliff more of a quick penetrating pass rushing nose than a guy who commands 2 blockers on the interior and a run game stuffer...

he seems more like an upfield player to me on the nose in big d...

Yeah, somewhat. He's kind of an usual nose that way. But that's why Dallas is looking around hard for a guy to rotate with him, especially on running downs. At least, that's what my Cowboys fans friends tell me.

thats the first thing that came to my mind as well! to be honest i would be upset with him @ 12, but if our FO like him then he has to be special....

To me, he's my Ron Brace. I just don't see enough from him to justify taking him at 12. Too inconsistent for my taste and that to me equals shady work ethic.
