SR 7
11-03-2010, 04:21 PM
why would we get him anyways? taht would mean we'd have to A) throw deep, B) run deep routes.

how does that fit into our scheme? Moss isn't a 5 yard route runner, something Henning only knows of. Plus he can't work 3 WR sets, how is he going to use Bess Moss and Marshall ? He has NO clue on hwo to use 3 wr sets.

One, saying he is the 2nd greatest wide out of all time is extremely debatable. Two he isn't the player he used to be. You know it and I know it. Did you see him completely dog that last game? We held him down to zero catches. Zero catches. If there was any indication that we wouldn't have given 100% then don't deal with him. Mentally he really could have mentally broken down Henne (no not he the good way). Could you imagine Henne checking down while Moss jogs down the field running a vetical route?

ireland- hey tony, and dan, what do you say we put a claim in for randy moss, i think he will make a big difference in our offense. what do you guys say?
sparano- is he going to get touchdowns for us, because if so, i dont want him, i only like fieldgoals?
henning- i mean, i dont see the point of it, he prob wont run a good triple reverse on 3rd and 10 from our own 20, plus he prob wont be happy catching 3- 4 yd passes. i say no
ireland- ok then, i thought he would be a good addition, but if u guys dont want him, then forget it. no claim on moss.

This is a horrendous, horrendous goof by the front office. I'm typically very supportive of the Fins (I've been less so with Henning lately), but this shows no urgency to winning now.

I get it, Dolphins, we're rebuilding. Still, its moves like this that make the organization show their hand that they believe they are not a legit shot for the Super Bowl anytime soon.

**** this stuff. do we need him to make the playoffs? no, we can still do things. however, he would have put us over the top, and made us instant superbowl contenders.

and for the people saying maybe the front office knows something since 21 other teams passed on him, well lots of teams passed on him on draft day in 98. how did that work out?

not saying he is the moss of old, but he is plenty capable of being a big threat still and being real productive, and when u have a chance to put ur team over the top for just 3.6 million the rest of the year, and u dont, thats a big big problem.

This is the same guy that takes plays off, complains about the food that's being served to him, and is basically a cancer. Do we really want that for Henne's development and confidence??

At first I thought getting Moss would be a good idea, just to block him from the Jets/Pats. But now the more I heard of his antics, the more I didn't want him NEAR the team. Let him blow up another team's locker room. All he's gonna do is ***** when Ricky and Ronnie OR Marshall or another one of our receivers get the ball instead of him. Not really that bothered. With a developing QB, I don't want to take a chance with the 'tude. When a player says "I play when I want to" I don't like what may happen if our young QB gets on him in the huddle to "quit doggin' it and get his *** moving out there".

Maybe the FO has other plans now anyway, with the injury to Bell.

I appreciate your insight like everyone on here does, but just because you say you dont see it happening does not mean people cannot be pissed the FO didnt pull the trigger. The reason you said you did not think it would happen is because you thought he was going to the Rams, making this senario impossible.

People are pissed because we struggle to move the ball, and have a young QB, we had a shot at one of the best WRs of our generation (altho in decline and did not take it). Would have made our offense substancially better and no one can argue that. The Cost: 3 mil for rest of the year, and no draft comp. It would have made us better for practically nothing.

For everyone being like hey the FO knows something we dont, Not True. The reason most teams passed was they are not in the hunt this year and know he would be salty. Moss lives in Miami, knows Pennington, and would be buddies with Marshall. Stop ****ing telling me this FO knows whats up when they continue to demonstrate through the draft, FA that they do not.

Carpenter-blows 2 games for us
Jason Allen-starts to punish sean smith and gets trashed last week
Marshall has 1 td this year
O line is way worse than last year after magical chair preseason

Ya this FO brought us up from the depths of hell, but that does not give them a pass for keeping us in football purgatory.

- I see the man who on two occasions said that no-one on earth can make him play when he doesn't want to.
- I see the biggest diva that has ever appeared in the NFL.
- I see a major cancer that divides locker rooms.
- I see an aging player that will be totally unable to accept a role of less than #1 WR.
- I see a WR that only runs (sorta) deep routes anymore.
- I see a WR that won't go over the middle or fight for balls anymore.
- I see a supposed elite player that is now on his third team this season.

In short: I see an ***hole that thankfully won't be a part of our Miami Dolphins.

Randy Moss is not the end-all of WR's anymore. He used to be an elite talent. His talent no-longer makes up for his infant-like behavior.

I watched both henne, and sparanos pressers this afternoon, and the way they were acting (at 3:40) didn't give any indication they were in any way interested. And don't say they didn't want to show their hand. It's WAIVERS, not the first day of the draft. Knowing the Fins, they waited until the last possible second, found out that a team above the Jets and Patriots put a claim in and the goal was accomplished. The only thing is, we play that team next week LOL.

I was all for him, if we want to make a run (which can still happen) our chances of making one are improved with Moss next to Marshall in our WR corps. Adding Moss, IMO, would have just opened up more opportunities for Marshall, Bess and Fasano. Worse comes to worse, we cut him loose after the season . . . very minimal risk IMO. Lockerroom cancer? Just bench the guy if he acts up . . . we wasted plenty of money on Gerbil and Wilford . . . we couldn't risk 3 million to bring in arguably the greatest big play WR of all time? This isn't like bringing in a bum Cris Carter in, this was Randy Moss in the declining part of his prime . . . but still a great player and a PERFECT fit skill wise.

I would have rolled the dice, and I think by NOT rolling the dice, this team put its "conservative mindset" on display. We passed on T.O. and Moss this year, and then we start Bess over Hartline in the last game obviously because Hartline was underachieving. It's whatever, but I think we ****ed up on this one.

Call me a homer all you want, I'm glad Miami DIDN'T put a claim in for the guy. Let him go destroy Tennessee's lockerroom morale for the last half of the season.. If he even bothers reporting there.

He's got talent? Sure.. I don't think anyone here will question that. However, there's this little thing called lockerroom morale which can sink a team very quickly, especially a young one like Miami.

We're going to discuss potential? There was a ton of it in Minnesota with that offense.. Yet, how'd things turn out? They got a guy who gave a half hazard effort, who managed to alienate a large number of his teammates in less than FOUR WEEKS.

Oh and by the way? It's not like New England is "hurting" without him (as I suspected they would). I realize they have the Brady variable, however as it's been pointed out, there's a reason the Titans are going to be his third team in a little over half of a season.

Once upon a time, he was a great player.. Perhaps eventually this season he'll find the internal drive to be that guy again.

Since we're going to throw hypothetical "what ifs".. What if the Dolphins lose a handful of games with Moss here, he moans and groans, stops trying and talks down the organization like he did Minnesota?

If people can't deal with Randy they don't deserve to be NFL head coaches.
If you can't stop one man from destroying your locker-room, find a new profession.

You see what you saw,
Now see what I see

I see a Tennessee Titan team that wants to win now.
I see a Jeff Fisher that knows there is not a player alive that will destroy HIS locker room.
I see a Tennessee Titan team that now makes the playoffs.

I see a Dolphins organization that is fine with being mediocre.
I see a team not willing to take a chance to win now.
I see a Dolphins team that comes up short making the playoffs, because we were lacking something...
That something is a deep threat that we could have had...
RANDY MOSS

To let one player "cancer" your lockerroom is a poor excuse for losing.
I am thoroughly disgusted today.

Just answer this one question

Is Randy Moss a SIGNIFICANT upgrade over Brian Hartline?

That question should be answered from a non statiscal perspective and a non subjective perspective. Simply ask yourself this... How does the defense prepare for facing Brian Hartline? Do they give him special attention? Do they shift safety help? Now same questions for Moss. Then ask yourself again SIGNIFICANT?? Anyone that demands extra attention on offense almost by definition is significant. So yes attitude aside, speaking about being an upgrade you bet he is. I do not care if he only gives effort 90% of the plays the defense still has to account for him. Who cares what he likes to eat.
