Listen fellow Dolphins fans, the Jets have gone to two straight afc championship games. They are 4-2 in the playoffs the last two years. You have to go back 18 years to get to 4 playoff wins for us. We need to shutup and get better before we can worry about the Jets and celebrate when they lose in the playoffs.

Exactly, too many times this season did luck play a major role in the Jets winning their games. While the good teams take those opportunities when they come, the Jets relied on it to get where they were this season.

I get your point and I do agree to an extent. However, I will always relish in the Jets loss, especially when they are as loud mouthed as they have been this season. Now, when the Dolphins are doing poorly, it makes it that much more important that a division rival doesn't go all the way. No one won the AFC championship or the Super Bowl, we are all back next year in the same boat.

I respect your opinion. But it's not like we are throwing a big birthday party or something.
It's just one thread.
If we can have hundreds of the dumbest, fear/hate panic attack threads I've seen this year, we can have one thread where people are happy lol.

This morning, Joe Beningo was playing excerpts from "Close To The Edge" by Yes interspersed with game calls from yesterday's Jet loss.

"Seasons will pass you by, I get up, I get down..."

Like I've said before, I'm as happy as a clown seeing child cry when the Jets lose. And to hear it to the soundtrack of my favorite band is beyond joy itself.

I cant bash the Jests again till next season is about to start really. They made 2 straight AFC title games. We are sitting on 2 straight garbage seasons, no QB at all, and yet our fanbase dosent seem to realize the importance of the position. A lot of them still think Sanchez isnt way better than Henne based on some stupid statistics too.

"Better" is as relative as an anal fissure vs a hemorrhoid: with the first you can cover it up and surround it with soothing salve to ease or maybe forget about the pain, at least for awhile, while the other needs to be surgically removed sooner than later. Bottom line: both are PITA's but to different degrees.

If the Jets were going to have their time, this was it. They lost and where are the they now? The Ryan regime has lots of aging players and huge contracts due yet they don't have a single Division or Conference Championship to show for it... I just hope at the beginning of next season Ryan says "We are going to the superbowl, and this time I really mean it!". Becuase that broken promise never gets old.

I'd say it's cause to celebrate.

Haha pop the champaign bottles in Miami. The Jets lost in the AFC Championship game for 2 years in a row with a HC and QB who are in their second years. Meanwhile the Dolphins went 7-9 again.

You know things are bad when you have to celebrate other teams losses deep in the post season because you guys never seem to get there.

Awesome. How many Conference Championships does Rex have as HC? NONE, the same as Miami has under Sparano... How many Division Championships does Rex have? NONE, that's one less than Miami under Sparano. The Rex Jets really haven't accomplished ANYTHING to hang their historic hats on.

See you next season.

GFTO! I celebrated when the Patsies went 18-1 and you're a liar if you say you took the "higher road" when they choked against the Giants. So I will also celebrate when the pompous NJ Jerks spent craploads on washed up veterans for a one year shot at a title and got no further than they did the previous year.

You seem to assume that because, "they are in their second years," that the Jets are going to somehow go to a SB under Ryan and Sanchise. They're not. The team is old and had it's chance and blew it. Wait another 42 years.

Dolphin fans keep saying this, but I don't get it. The role players are old, the core of the team is young.

Ellis, 33
Taylor, 36
Woody, 33
Tomlinson, 31
Richardson, 39

Those are the old players that played important roles this year. That makes the Jets an old team? After Pace's suspension, Taylor became a situational player. Woody will most likely be back for another year, Taylor is gone, Richardson is retiring, and the futures of Tomlinson and Ellis are uncertain. Greene is more than capable of handling 75% of the workload at back and McKnight will see touches next year. Conner spent the year being groomed to take over at fullback next year. The D-line rotation will be deeper next year with the return of Pitoitua (who Rex loves) and Jenkins. If Jenkins stays healthy ( a big if at this point), he fixes the pass rush issues by himself because he commands a double team. The overloads don't work nearly as well when he's not on the field.

Sanchez
Edwards/Holmes
Greene
Keller
Mangold
Ferguson
Revis
Harris
Cromartie

They're all young, and they're the core of the team. As long as the core is young, you can fill in the rest of the spots. We still have our 1st rounder, which will be a defensive linemen, linebacker, or safety. Not having a full set of draft picks is a problem when you have holes all over the place, that's not an issue for the Jets.

I agree I would probably be celebrating as well. But I just think it comes off as kind of pathetic when the team your rooting against played in back to back Conference Championship games and are close to breaking through.

Im not calling all Dolphins fans pathetic as while I hate your team I respect them and love the rivalry between the two teams but for people to go nuts like the Jets just blew it is kind of dumb when you look at our team moving forward.

You seem to think the team is old. Please explain to me how they are. Our core on Offense consists of guys like Sanchez, Greene, Mangold, Brick, Keller, and most likely Edwards, and Holmes as well. Those are all very good young players. Who do you got besides Marshall and Long? DaVonne Bess?

On defense we have Revis who is the best corner in the sport, Harris will be back, some good young role players and a coach who always puts a good defensive team out on the field.

But I guess its easy to just sit there and say "the Jets are not going to win the Super Bowl". Let me guess why "cause they suck"? Whether you like it or not or simply dont want to admit it the Jets are close to accomplishing their goal. Will they? Who knows but to simply say "wait another 42 years" is pretty dumb IMO.

Who cares about your division championship You had a home game the next week and embarressed yourselves against the Ravens. Rex is 4-2 in the playoffs with 2 playoff births. Sparano (with a 1 year advantage on Rex) is 0-1 with 1 playoff birth. Rex's resume is far more impressive then Sparano's. Lets just be serious.

It's nice to see the rival fall short of the goal but the reality is they are 4-2 the last 2 years on the road in the playoffs including 2 AFC Championship games. However, they have Free Agency issues in several spots that is going to reduce the talent level. This was the year to win it all and it didn't happen. Like a few others, I don't see how you can talk up the Dolphins when the Jets have been far better the last 2 years.

As for Sanchez vs Henne, Henne blows but Sanchez is not as good as some of you make him out to be. He is capable of keeping a play alive and occasionally making a big play but his ball placement is actually worse then Henne's and his accuracy beyond 20 years is horrible.

I'm sure there's a certain sense of euphoria when you dodge a bullet. That's what Dolphin fans are feeling now. After the dust settles, maybe you'll actually get a grip on reality and realize what we've done in the past two years is impressive ... and better than anything you've done in the last twenty.

What some of you guys don't seem to grasp is this ...
It's not about "Superbowl or Bust" this year or any year.
Its about building a good solid team that will compete for the championship EVERY year.
If you do that, the SB's will come. Look at all the recent SB appearances for Pitt, NE and INDY.
That's how you do it ... and that's what we're doing in NY.
And like it or not, right now we're light years ahead of where you are.

jree
01-25-2011, 03:25 PM
Please do not compare the jets to Pitt, NE, and Indy. They have something that neither of our teams have and thats an elite QB on the cusp of the H.O.F.

Sanchez may be better than Henne but he is not anywhere near on the level of those three QB's. I dont know how anybody can say their built like 3 super bowl teams when their are so many players going into free agency this off season and you don't know for sure who's going to get signed. As of right now, you guys are more built like the McNabb led Eagles than those other 3.

Either way, the jets are still in a better place than the dolphins
