The "'Melo Drama" keeps taking new twists and turns.

First Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony was getting traded to the Nets. Then it was the Knicks.

Now, a source tells ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard, the All-Star forward could be headed to the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade involving Andrew Bynum.

As is always the case with Carmelo rumors, skepticism abounds and Frank Isola of the NY Daily News tweeted that Lakers owner Jim Buss reportedly rejected the deal.

The source described the talks as being "in their infancy" and Broussard himself says a three-way deal between the Knicks, Nuggets and Wolves is "very much alive."

Chris Broussard is the most clueless idiot on ESPN, aside from Chad Ford.

this wont happen for 3 reasons...

1) the story came from chris broussard

2) denver isn't going to trade melo to another western conf team and have to deal with him kicking their azz for the next 5+ years

3) they aren't going to give melo up for bynum and his toilet tissue knees.this dude has had surgeries on BOTH knees and if they do that trade denver's GM needs to be fired and banned from the NBA. just like the memphis grizzlies GM should have for that gasol bs.

it doesn't really help the lakers either IMO.their main problem this season has been effort on defense & as much as I love melo's game, he's not going to help improve their D @ all.i'd be surprise if kobe moved to the point and just let melo gun.too much ego,i dont care if they get along now.gasol cant play center for a full 48 mins, hes still soft in my estimation. plus they'd have to trade bynum & they only have 3 serviceable options in the post as it stands. ratliff will be 6 fouls along w/ some shot blocking & joe smith may play @ some point this year, but no way in hell they beat (for example) boston in the finals, w/ their depth down low, w/o bynum.

hell,i dont really see them getting past the mavs or spurs in the playoffs at this point, but thats why they play the games.

I could see Dallas as a darkhorse in all of this.

smokescreen by denver to force knicks hand.the threat of this will make the knicks agree to whatever denver wants.melo wants to go to ny.and thats probably where he most likely will end up.

Does this make the Knicks title contenders?

I honestly don't know who the Knicks have outside of Gallinari, Amare, and Ray Felton.

heck no.the knicks already don't play defense and melos not the answer.d'antoni doesnt want them to play defense anyway thats not his style.

but melo wants to play in ny,thats his final answer.LA doesnt really have any moveable pieces either that would make sense except for bynum.only id be extremely surprised if this is truly something denver would do.

...Carmelo doesn't really fit in LA imo,but I'd take him long term only(no rental) ... Kobe's not finished yet....the last 3 years or so the Press has tried to "bury" Kobe....besides we can't trade Drew now... the Lakers will need him next year so they can trade him to the Magic for Howard....

They can have the the best 2 players at every position in the entire NBA on their team and they won't win a championship as long as D'Antoni is head coach. That being said, no, Carmelo won't make the Knicks a title contender. He might be the only player who cares less about defense than Amare. All he does is make them a better version of the same team, which is a team that plays no defense whatsoever. No defense, no chance at all to win a championship.

If they played better defense they would be in the conversation.

The Knicks aren't contending with Amare and Gallo as their starting frontcourt. It doesn't really matter who's coaching that lineup.....its not going to be a great defensive unit. But give them an offseason with a boatload of cash to lure Nene or another quality big and they're suddenly in the conversation.

Boston, Miami, Chicago, and NY.....it would be great for the nba. Maybe give them a little more incentive to get off their ***** and get a deal done so they can play next season.

I don't buy the LA talk.....sounds more like an agent or team rep feeding a story to the media in order to stir up interest. Not that I think the reported NY trade has any truth to it either.

The Carmelo Anthony trade saga is finally over.
The Nuggets traded Melo to the New York Knicks tonight, a league source said. Denver gets Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.
