I just found this in the Sun Sentinel and thought it would be cool to share

Tim Robbie, son of former Dolphins owner Jim Robbie, and former President of the Dolphins, has been named the President of the soccer team Fort Lauderdale Strikers, which is the current reincarnation of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the 70's and 80's owned by Joe Robbie. They're home opener is April 9th at Lockhart.

How many times have people tried to bring soccer to South Florida and it has failed

I wish Timmy Robbie luck but I wouldn't be surprised if the team folds after one season...if you're playing in that trash dump called Lockhart Stadium then it's not a good sign for your team

Soccer won't gain that much popularity in the US.

I'd love Ross to hire Tim Robbie as Team President. We'd finally have a front office guy who understands the football operation and can fire/hire his GM and coaching staff.

Actually, the only popular soccer team in South Florida History were the Strikers, and the nostalgia has already sold tons of season tickets.
And the MLS has very good crowds. Seattle averages like 40,000 fans for example

Hopefully having Tim Robbie as President can boost them over the top

Cool? I don't really see what this has to do with (American) football, though.
