No. I'm not saying we should draft him as our feature back, so get that thought out of your damn mind. But if he's sitting around in the 5th or 6th, I'd take a chance.

Low risk, high reward in the late, late rounds. 6th round, I'd stab at it. Many have him going as high as 3rd and I wouldn't touch that at all.

Is that the fastest recorded?

I think Chris Johnson got clocked at 4.23, but damn.....kids got wheels

Kick returner?? Devine measured 5'7" 194 pounds. So he's bigger then Warrick Dunn was.

i'm pretty sure he was barely 160 lbs at the combine...tooth pick legs...i don't know where that 194 lbs came from unless he had bricks in his britches

Way off. I've seen him in person. He is not 160lb!

Iv been around the kid since pop warner, the kid can run. He has a special talent, hopefully he gets with a coaching staff that will know how to use him. I would love to add him in the later rounds.

Totally agree this guys has skillz. Would definitely love to see him on our team. He is the fastest guy I've ever seen in person. Moves like you wouldn't believe. True speed threat! I definitely think there would be a place for him on any team. I'd take him over some of the other crap posters have us taking.

He did run at the Pro Day, and did not disappoint. He was clocked between a 4.26 and a 4.38 in the 40-Yard Dash. That time would have ranked him in 1st or 2nd place at the Combine, depending on which time you take. The difference in times stems from the fact that several scouts took the times with stopwatches by hand.

Stats, stats, stats. Give me a topic and I'll get your stats for both sides. All I know as truth is I am 5'7 and weigh 170 pounds. I've meet Noel in person-and he is bigger than me. I'll take my personal eye test over anything you show me otherwise. I'm not saying he is the body type the NFL typically looks for. However, there are athletes that have pure ability where that doesn't matter. This guys is balzing quick and has "the sight" on the field. I watched almost every game he played and have seen tapes going back to High School. If it wasn't for a nagging injury he could have won the heisman-no joke. I'm not saying risk a high pick on him. But if we can get him with a 5th. I have no doubt he pays dividends.

I will never trust a pro day 40 time. That's how Derrick Locke ran a 4.21

Kid is in my mock draft in the 5th, with Delone Carter in the 4th.

He put on 20lbs before his Pro day and is now around 180. He's great value as a RB/KR/PR. Kid has incredible pace and change of direction and absolutely no fear.

My mock so far...

Trade down to mid 20s in the 1st and pick up a low-mid 2nd.

1. Mallet if he's there (& I think he will be) or Ponder if he's not
2. Brooks Read OLB
3. Curtis Brown CB
4. Delone Carter RB
5. Noel Devine RB/KR/PR
6. Julius Thomas TE
7. Cecil Shorts WR
7. Zach Hurd OG
7. Scott Tolzien

Use a late pick on him! They are going to want speed and he seems to have a lot of it.

dude he weighed in at 160 lbs at the combine...i don't care what your eye ball test says...you think the scale lied??? jeesh...anyways i don't have a draftable grade on him...your eye ball test isn't gonna change that for me...it's more than the weight also...i'm just not a fan of what i see...i'd rather use our picks elsewhere

He was actually 160 during the Senior Bowl Weigh Ins . . . and about a month later came in almost 20 lbs heavier at the combine at 179. Now another month later he is up 15 more pounds at his Pro Day. Kid must be on one hell of a "get thick" plan, don't understand why he didn't do this during college and waited until his stock hit damn near rock bottom.

He was definitely skin and bones at the Senior Bowl but did look bigger at the Combine. Any recent pictures of Devine at his Pro Day?

That same report the OP is quoting also says he did 26 reps . . . hella impressive if he did. He definitely has an electricity about him.

there's no way that kids putting on that much good weight in that short a period of time...no way...thats like 40 lbs in less than 3 months...ok so i had the combine and senior bowl weight mixed up...i guess no one ever told him during the pre senior bowl process 160 lbs is gonna be a major issue with nfl clubs

walterfootball has these stats from him:

Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia
Height: 5-8. Weight: 179.
Projected 40 Time: 4.36.
Combine 40 Time: DNP.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.26.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 35.5. Broad: .

If he was able to add 19 pounds from Senior Bowl -> Pro day ... I don't see why he couldn't get near 190 at some point (no, not next week). He's short, but if he can add some pounds and not lose his speed, I'd take him in the 6th round for a Leon Washington type role. I wouldn't take a higher risk on the kid, but at the very least it adds some competition in the backfield.

190 - 160 = 30 pounds.

Furthermore, I never said "in less than 3 months". I said "at some point". And yes, I think he could get to 190 at some point.

I'm 6' 2" 160 and at one point I was able to get up to 185 in less than two months. The issue isn't putting on the weight, it's keeping it on without slowing down.

Besides, with a 6th round pick, you're taking a chance no matter what. You either draft for depth or hope you found a diamond in the rough. I'm not saying Devine is a diamond in the rough, but he *could* be, while also providing much needed depth. They'll need a speedster in the backfield and if he's sitting around late, why not?

I wouldn't risk more than a 5th or 6th on him. And a 5th is pushing it in my eyes. But in the 6th round, would you rather have another Donald Thomas, et al?

Would be nice if he went Undrafted and we brought him in..Its hard to ignore that kind of speed..I wonder if his stock goes up..

i thought i saw where someone said he was 197 now...anyways...it doesn't matter...the kid played at 160 for a damn reason...to maintain quickness and agility etc i have a hard time believing that a strength coach at the college level wouldn't pack some good muscle on the kid for football and he'd play with more weight on him if he could have carried it well...

whats with all you 160 lb dudes??? guys must be vegetarians or something...6 ft 2 160 lbs is a hang man...

High metabolism. I eat like the most obese person in the world, I just don't keep weight on easily. Also, I hate vegetables. I'm a carnivore for life. :)

It's crazy, I'm like a shade over 6'1" and I'm 235 lbs, work out almost every day, eat my veggies and limit my sweets to a minimum. . . if I don't do this, I will blow up to over 250 in no time. Guess it has everything to do with the genes, athough I also LOVE being a carnivore

Eating organic - when possible - covers a multitude of sins. I drink beer like a fiend, drinking beer now (Souther Tier 2x IPA). And, I'm not talking about MGD 64 or Mich Ultra or any of that garbage. I'm talking about largely heavy imports and micros. I eat dessert when I want. I don't eat AS many fruits and veggies as I ought - though, I'm working on it. And, I never work out - also working on that. I haven't weighed over 155 in 4+ years. I know it's not all genetics, because when I really ate like **** back in high school, I was up to 185.

Yeah, I work nights - 10 pm to 7 30 (+) am. So, basically, I drink whenever I feel like it. I have the night off, so I'll likely feel like it all day.

If he is really gaining weight like that it actually puts me off more on him. To put on 19-20 lbs of muscle in 1 month is not natural without some Berry Bonds kind of nutritional supplements. It worries me that he could fail a piss test and shrink right up again. Never the less, the guy is fast and quick. If your going to take a flyer on a boom or bust guy he would be an interesting prospect in the 6th-7th round. He is never going to be a run between the tackles kind of guy but would be lethal catching little swing pass's and screens on offense.
