No clue who's advancing......should be a very entertaining first round. I think every series will be competitive outside LA/NO, Miami/Philli and Chi/Indiana.

Denver is play some great ball and I think they'll take down OKC.

JCane

Denver is the only other team with a lower seed who I think is capable of advancing.

Ferretsquig
04-15-2011, 02:45 PM
Atlanta has done a great job against Howard this year and has all sorts of big bodies they can throw at him. They have a chance. Portland has been picked by many to upset and so probably will get swept but one can hope. Denver can if their bench scorers hit their shots. And even NY has a shot....I'd hesitate to question Boston after what happened last year but they've looked downright mediocre since the Perkins trade and 'Melo has been on a hot streak.

This looks like the most wide open playoffs I've ever seen. There are at least 9 teams you can make real arguments for having a chance to reach the finals if things go their way. Of course LA and Boston may turn it on again and make us all look like fools for doubting them yet again.

PhinsPhan11

These playoffs can be very interesting because so many teams from each conference could make the finals. Sadly, my team probably won't get out of the first round. :(

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Grizzlies take down the Spurs. Grizzlies are underated and the Spurs aren't going to have Manu Ginobili for at least 1 game. This could allow Memphis to steal a game early in San Antonio.

Besides, last time the Spurs played in a playoff series they didn't even win a game. (sorry, had to think back to the Suns incredible run last year )

Didn't take long for "blame the ref" guy to make an appearance lol.

If you don't think the refs altered the 2nd quarter, more power to you. But anyone that isn't being a homer can realize that was some awful officiating in the 2nd quarter. 15 FT's for the Heat, only a few coming on actual fouls. The Sixers can only get 4 FT's, both of them coming from them getting thrown to the ground. God forbid we get a shooting foul for no contact like the Heat can.

Either way, this is expected. The NBA is fixed, has been for a looong time.

Clipse
04-16-2011, 04:52 PM

I had so much respect for the Heat before Bosh and LeBron got there. Now it's just a joke. I do have joy in knowing they won't win a title since the officiating won't be as lopsided when they play the upper echelon teams, and without the fix, they can't win.

Wait a minute....you probably had no problem with Bosh when he was in Toronto. Probably had no problem with Wade. Probably held an opinion of either love or hate with LeBron, and probably never thought much about the Heat unless they were playing Philadelphia. But now that the three play for the Heat, all of a sudden you have no "respect" for the Heat. Why? What changed?

How is it retarded? Was it retarded when Kings fans were calling the NBA fixed in 2002 after their series with the Lakers? No. Because it was fixed, and it was obvious. Do you honestly believe the NBA has changed? No, it hasn't. The NBA is still fixed.

But how is that the "Heat's" fault. Stars get calls. Always have always will. And it's magnified at home. You guys will get calls back in Philadelphia. Has NOTHING to do with the Heat.

The thing about Wade I like is he just got called on an offensive foul, and he didn't do anything. If it was called on LeBron he would immediately turn and go "who me". That is why LeBron can get real annoying.

Don't buy that at all. We've had ONE referee that we know of on the take. Dude got busted and hit hard. That will definitely change things. I think the NBA is cleaner than ever because of it. David Stern made an example and the referees now are VERY careful.

I think of it as like a plane crash. If American Airlines has a plane crash into the side of a mountain, when is the SAFEST time to fly American Airlines again? The very next day. Everyone is on their best then. And it's no different in any business. And the same can be said for the NBA.

You're right. It's not the Heats fault. It's the NBA's fault. As for us getting calles in Philadelphia, not a chance. It's not a home court thing (unless you're in Boston), it's an NBA thing. The Heat are going to get every call in Philly as long as the Sixers are keeping up with the Heat.

Could not disagree more. Derrick Rose is a phenominal talent but no team is affected more when their star player goes out like the Orlando Magic. Its a shame that he's barely in the talks of MVP candidacy.

If Derrick Rose is lost for the season, fine, the Bulls are probably a 4 seed. But if Howard goes down, the Magic are a lottery team. The guy is consistently winning games by himself which is why he's probably gonna haul *** in FA

We'll never know unless Rose gets injured but I wouldn't want to find out that way. phillys problem in this game was that when the heat went to that zone the 6ers lost all their mo jo and they became a tentative team ...empty possession after empty possession followed and the heat got rolling...add in an inability to rebound the ball on defense and keep the heat from easy second chance layup points and you got yourself a loss...

thadeus youngs free throw misses late were the dagger...

hooshoops
04-17-2011, 12:05 AM
normally in the 2-3 zone the soft spot would be top of the key at the free throw line extended but the 6ers problem is that while they have a lot of undersized athleticism on the floor they don't have any real catch and face big men who can hit the 15 footer other than elton brand but they kept running in other more athletic almost wings into that area and most of which are not catch and shoot guys but need to be off the dribble to be effective...

why the 6ers didn't let brand roam the free throw line exclusively when the heat went to the zone is beyond me...spread out into a 4 corners like offense and let brand catch and face and either pop the 15 footer with guys attacking the boards from the corners or if the heat collapse kick out for uncontested perimeter jumpers

phillys problem in this game was that when the heat went to that zone the 6ers lost all their mo jo and they became a tentative team ...empty possession after empty possession followed and the heat got rolling...add in an inability to rebound the ball on defense and keep the heat from easy second chance layup points and you got yourself a loss...

thadeus youngs free throw misses late were the dagger...

I agree. That 2nd quarter was our downfall. Between us coming out flat in that zone, and the Heat at one point drawing FIVE consecutive shooting fouls. Elton Brand missing a wide open 12 footer, Speights missing 2 layups, Thad missing 2 FT's, and Wade getting an and 1 on one of the most blatant offensive fouls I have ever seen all in the 4th didn't help us either. I'm confident Doug Collins will have a solution for the 2-3 zone next time. The fouls, we're just going to have to suck it up and try and win this thing without the refs on our side.

I don't have many complaints about the NBA, but the officiating is the biggest one to me. The refs are persuaded by the stars, and that's not how a game should be called. Hopefully they call it a little more even next game.

didn't have much of a choice...melo hawks up a 28 footer with 6 seconds left on the clock down 2 despite rondo completely leaving the dangerous 3 point shooter douglas all alone for an uncontested 3 look and you think they had no choice??? not to mention melo off the dribble could have at least gotten fouled...instead he went hot dog and pulled up a out of rhythm attempt to be the hero

Melo sucks and D'antoni isn't a very good coach if he didn't have a set play for offense if the Celts scored. Douglas was wide open and hit the last 3 to put them up. Melo was double teamed. Rondo knew he wasn't going to pass. He had enough time to atleast set his feet and square up but instead decided to hoist up some kind of awkward one legged sideways attempt.

Right now, its a double edged sword for Knicks fans. If they lose the series, well, they'll be the same New York Knicks. If they win, D'antoni is most certainly coming back next year and that guy isn't winning any type of championship in the next couple of years.

The Knicks are a poorly coached team. D'Antoni needs to take an assitant job or something. His play calling skills are horrible. With 19 seconds left, why the hell would you put Jeffries on Garnett and not to mention they don't bring a double team from the perimeter when your mans being backed down in the post.

Are the Grizzlies that good or the Spurs that bad? I think we all knew the Spurs' power rotation was pretty weak but Ginobili and Parker have stunk it up so far.

**** happens I guess. Too bad I don't like the Caps, at least one local team here looks like they might be able to get to the playoffs and actually do something in 'em
I hate the Caps. All the annoying Caps fans around here make me hope they collapse in the playoffs again.

It was one game, and the Sixers played well. The Heat will probably still win Game 5.

The 76ers have been playing well...good young scrappy team. I think we will win game 5 but a lot of things about todays game drove me nuts.

One thing I'll say is that LeBron shouldn't be shooting a potential GW shot. IMO, it should be Wade taking that shot.

You'd think they would learn after LeBron missing all those end of game shots.

just know that the Celtics won't be representing the east in the finals. Congrats, you swept a banged up Knicks team that has the worst defense in basketball.

 at the Spurs. Down 16 early in the 4th. It isn't over yet, but is sure seems the Spurs have their backs against the wall at this point. Looking like they'll be playing an elimination game from here on out.

I love it!!

Perhaps worded that a bit wrong. East is pretty weak. I could see them in the finals but certainly not beating LA or whoever winds up making it there.

Suns actually have one of the best franchises in the league. We have 0 championships to show for it, but we have an outstanding fanbase and have been consitantly one of the best teams for the past decade. Suns are fading away as Steve Nash gets older and older. Let's face it though, the Spurs are a thing of the past at this point. They won't be winning another championship with this core of players and I certainly see them as entering a rebuilding era.

How can a team that's never won anything be considering one of the best franchises? The fans? Admirable. The Washington Mystics used to hang up banners at the MCI Center. What was on the banners?

I mean hey, if the goal is to have fans that show up to enjoy free air conditioning for a few hours which is what makes your franchise one of the best, go for it.

I do agree Ricky that the Spurs as a title contending team are done though.
