This one is my preferred area musically (although, like any musician, that is definitely subject to change). These are ten amazing progressive metal albums that definitely need to be checked out. (Note: This list includes progressive metal and progressive death metal. Progressive black metal will be included with viking and folk black metal later on.)

1.) Disillusion- Back to Times of Splendor
2.) The Devin Townsend Band- Accelerated Evolution
3.) Savatage- Hall of the Mountain King
4.) Orphaned Land- Mabool
5.) Into Eternity- Buried in Oblivion
6.) Opeth- Watershed
7.) Kamelot- Karma
8.) Between the Buried and Me- Colors
9.) Andromeda- Final Extension
10.) Mercenary- 11 Dreams

Honorable Mentions:
Ocean Machine- Biomech
Redemption- Snowfall on Judgement Day

I love the instrumentals or the style. But I hate the vocals. I have never liked that growl into the mic "singing". Just wounds terrible.

Most of these are actually clean vocals, or at least a combination of the two. Think Dream Theater, but less annoying.

David Maxim Micic- Bilo 3.0
Devin Townsend Project- Deconstruction
Karnivool- pretty much any album
Tesseract- Altered State
The Ocean- Pelagial
