Great news. One more good QB prospect on the market, making it easier for us to land one of them.

I might be mistaken, but isn't there a draft forum this should be in instead?

it's good that stuff like this gets posted in the main forum for those who don't have a pipeline connected to instantaneous breaking news, even if it gets deservedly moved over to another forum after awhile. thanks

Someone floated the possibliity of cobbling together a package for Kolb including Long. I would not consider that for a host of reasons, but if we could leapfrog up to St L's slot, I definitely would give strong consideration to a package including Long and at least one 1st and more, if RG3 is at the end of that rainbow.

Does anyone have that table that shows precieved value needed in order to trade up? If we pick 8th, what would it take to get to #3?....

I'll wait for the official word. I think they said the same thing a day after his bowl game 2 weeks ago and he still hasn't announced. He has till the 15th to make it official.

Charley Casserly said it would cost two 1st round picks and another pick.

My guess is it would be our 1st and 2nd this year plus our 1st next year to move up to #2. I would wait and see if he drops to 3 or 4 and try to make the trade if Ireland and the new coach really wanted him. I think he's a project myself and I wouldn't trade up for him.

That chart is now worthless with the new rooks contract rule...

Good news. Makes Brandon Weeden cheaper. And Matt Flynn.

i'm not even sure i'd take rg3 at #9 let alone trade all those picks to go get him...i might take him at #9 just going for the upside pick play...if you miss cap wise it doesn't kill you...but trade all that for him...yeah no thanks...maybe if he had a better nfl body i'd be more inclined...but man does that kid take a lot of contact even in college...

Sorry man, but the only player I would even consider moving Long for is Luck. Otherwise, I'll hold tight and take Tannehill or Weeden.

So far the only report I've seen is that RGIII has informed Art Briles he will go pro but still no official announcement from RGIII himself. Maybe he's getting cold feet. He needs to just come out and say it to the media and be done with it and stop jerking around.

with indy and irsay signing that new gm from the eagles could they actually decide to go the rg3 route looking for another mike vick like athlete with that top pick??? i'm starting to wonder...

we couldn't be that lucky

No way. Irsay is bent on getting Luck. If they were to skip on Luck it would be a mad scramble for about 4 or 5 teams to trade up with the Rams but I just don't see it happening.

Good lord could you imagine the pure chaos that would result from that? St Louis's phone lines in their war room would be ringing off the hook. They could literally name their price for that #2 pick.

i know i'd want us to be in on that bidding if that did happen...

I really like RGIII and wouldn't mind trading up for him at all. I feel like this is something Ireland will heavily consider. The news of him coming out had to be met with a few winks around the Dolphin organization.

I don't think there's any chance of us getting RG III. Cleveland wants him also, and despite having the No 4 pick, they also have another 1st round pick this year. The Rams would only fall 2 slots, still allowing them to draft Justin Blackmon, while picking up the 22nd pick. I don't see us being able to compete with that.
