Pick No.9

David DeCastro (http://www.finheaven.com/draft/2012/profiles/david-decastro?id=2533043)
OG
Stanford

This could be a team that tries to move up to get RGIII but if it doesn't get him, it will strengthen the interior for whoever has to line up under center.

It sucks that we had to pick a year to suck with so few difference makers in the draft...and we didn't suck enough to get the real difference maker in the draft (Andrew Luck).

Last time we picked 9th I was begging the Dolphins to take Revis or Willis...and we took Ginn. So I guess it really didn't matter.

If we take another FREAKING OT or OG in the first I am done with this team until Ross and Ireland are both gone PERIOD, I have given this team 21 years of my life only to watch the fins flounder away over the past 15..

Those 6 wins don't help the Dolphins now, but the players were playing for their jobs. If you go out and dog it you don't get a contract next year. As much as I want the 'fin to get good I can appreciate a guy not wanting to get fired.

The good thing about the draft is that there are multiple rounds, which makes reaching for skill position players unnecessary. It's usually the crap teams that reach for need, momentarily intoxicated by the thought of overdrafting a prospect at a position of particular need.

Almost every Dolphins fan would prefer a QB or other skill position player with our first pick, that much is obvious, and for good reason. But that doesn't make a philosophy of "screw it, we need a playmaker, reach if necessary" a good philosophy. We didn't have very good luck with top ten picks in the Ronne Brown draft or Ted Ginn draft, that's how it goes. Personally, I would have drafted Dwayne Bowe over Ted Ginn btw.

But I'd rather draft a pure stud on the oline like DeCastro than rashly and impatiently overdraft a QB, WR or CB. Given that Luck, Claiborne and Blackmon will most likely be gone be gone by our pick, I'd be happy with DeCastro at #8 or 9, not crazy about RT that high, I'd probably wait, especially with pretty good depth at OT this draft. DeCastro is a special case- if he were merely "very good" I'd have no interest.

So DeCastro at #8 or 9- I'm fine with that. And then I'd pray that Brandon Weeden lasts until our pick in the 2nd round.

You know, if we have to take a OL, DeCastro is the only one I would be comfortable with.

I only wanted to beat the Jets, lol. I was pissed we won the other games...but then I never thought Indy would win even two games.

I'm not excited about picking another O-lineman, but if we do AND pick a good one, OLine will be a force. Team with great oline tend to overachieve and make average QB look good. That being said, looking at what looks to be available for us at #8/#9, I'm even more for trading the farm for #2 spot, and would make sense for Rams aswell as they're will be good OL, LB & CB available at our spot.
