Are our fins candidates to get any compensatory picks?  We always seem to lose out and get a 7th rd picks.  Does anyone have any speculation as to what picks we will get?

I haven't looked, but to qualify we need to have lost more free agents then we signed. Though the only free agents that qualified are those that had their contracts expire with the previous team. For example, Jason Taylor doesn't count because the Jets had cut him. Colombo doesn't count because the Cowboys cut him. Also players acquired via trade such as Bush don't qualify either. Though a guy like Burnett does and guys like Ronnie and Ricky would. Also depends on the type of contract they signed and the impact they had. Ronnie and Ricky signed dirt cheap contracts and didn't have big impacts so that will hurt us.

We might end up getting a 6th round pick or 7th round pick.

Hey Nubs, don't forget about Tyler Thigpen, he was our biggest free agent loss contract wise. He signed a three year $11M deal with the Bills. Ronnie Brown signed a one year $1M deal with the Eagles & Ricky signed a two year $2.5M deal with the Ravens. So as weird as it may sound, in terms of compensation picks our ranking is 1-Thigpen, 2-Ricky, 3-Ronnie. Burnett signed a four year $21M deal with us. Based on pasts years compensation for contracts the size of Ronnie & Ricky's would only net us a 7th rounder each & Thigpen would only get us a 6th rounder. Not sure whose signing would drop off because of the Burnett signing.

That thought would be incorrect. We were plus two in the free agent market. Lost three unrestricted free agents & signed one. We should expect to get two but it's possible, if the combined NFL compensatory picks is greater than 32, that we'd get only one compensatory pick but that pick would be upgraded by a round.

I hate these 6th and 7th round comp picks. They're untradeable and I can't stop watching the draft until Miami has made it's last pick

The only third round compensatory pick will probably be to the Raiders for Nnamdi. Patriots won't get any compensation picks this year.

and then BB will then draft a guy that doesnt make the team or has no real impact. sorry, the defense was soft. got rid of guys they touted years ago.

Doesn't Trusnik count?

Good find, yep he counts. Two years $2M. So we're back down to one compensation pick.

He was cut by Carolina so he doesn't count.

I assumed we'd be getting 12 3rd rounders because every time we let someone walk fans here tell us we let the greatest player in the world go and now their superstars where ever they sign, lol!!!!!!

We sign too many stars and wanna bees to star contracts to ever get real comp picks, this is truely what makes NE and Pitts the smarter teams. They sign their own and let the guys go that are loking for the huge contract a year or two early, then they sign vets to smallish contracts thus resulting in occasional steals in FA and extra draft picks every year.

Guess that thought would be correct.

How did GB manage to grab two 4th rounders...who did they lose last year?
