I can't say I'm a huge fan of walterfootball.com but it's a decent site to find a long list of players in the draft. For the past two years I would say that although they dont get a lot of the picks right they do give an accurate assesment of what rounds a lot of players will go.

Anyway, if you already know this site then I guess you would also know that Riley Reiff OT has been mocked to us for a few weeks now, if not months. This week however Quinton Coples DE is now mocked to us. They also have Nick Foles QB to us in round 2, and an OT and DT in rounds 3 and 4. didn't get a chance to check some of the other mocks on there but that is Walter's current mock to us, which is obviously subject to change 29084902 times

That is what I am thinking as well, assuming we dont use the pick to trade up for RG3. Couples looks dominant at the Senior Bowl practices. Better looking than Upshaw to me. What a D-Line that would be.

CK.... You dont like Couples? Or is it the rest of the draft you dont like? I am speaking only about Couples here, the rest of that mock is a big miss for me.

Considering Weeden is still on the board at 78, that's a bad mock.

Aside from that being a horrendous draft It does no good to pay attention to these mocks until after Free Agency starts. The Dolphins QB situation has several options that involve FA, the draft or both.

On a side note Brandon Weeden is having an excellent week at the Senior Bowl. Lots of personnel people have been raving that he is NFL ready.

If we are instituting a West Coast Offense, Foles is a great choice. I've watched just about every game of his career being an Arizona alum, and he's a very efficient passer, very accurate, doesn't make mistakes, and has the arm to make the big throw (also, not afraid to chuck the ball up and let his big strong WR go get it...Brandon Marshall anyone?). I also think he is well suited to the talent at our skill positions currently. He has a very even demeanor, never getting too high or too low (though he's not as robotic as Henne). I dont think he'll ever be a pro bowl calibre quarterback, but I think he could be in the top half to top 1/3 of QBs in the league, which when considering what we've had since Marino retired....I'll take that and run with it.

I am all for adding an O-lineman, but are any of these first round o-lineman that much better than a guy who we can pick up in the third or fourth round? Trying to evaluate what an O-lineman will do at the next level is very tough to do. There are blue chip lineman like Jake Long who you could see in college and tell he was going to be great, but many guys slip through the cracks, and end up being first round quality lineman. We need to go after a TE, Pass Rusher, and add a Wide Receiver. I also would look at adding a quality defensive back.

Mock drafts change so much between now and the actual draft. Last year at this time DaQuan Bowers and Nick Fairley were top 3 picks. I doubt the Dolphins go o-line with the first pick, Colombo is so terrible that signing a guy on the Mendonza line would be an improvement. Coples would be a good pick considering Wake is a 31 year old FA at the end of next year.

I like upshaw more then coples but its really pick your poison. upshaw gives us more flexibility and i think has a higher ceiling as a pass rusher. i feel he could also take wakes spot in a few years.

mock drafts ARE a waste of time right now but what else is there to read about? only so much news at this point ill take any phin speculation then reading about peyton and irsay. also for those of us who don't watch college religously its a nice place to find a long list of players to research and listen for...

Upshaw having a higher ceiling as a pass rusher is debateable because Coples can line up inside or outside on the defensive line. As far as physicality, Coples reminds me of the Giants Jason Pierre-Paul. They both are about 6-5 280 and can line up at either DT or DE on passing downs.

Both Upshaw and Coples have the potential be difference makers at the next level and I would happy with either one.

i think upshaw lets us play 3-4 or 4-3 , so we'd be more flexible in schemes..and maybe the finesse @ his size makes for a better olb? id be happy with either also though

Coples and Foles

Well, I like Coples more than Reiff, but picking Foles gold any higher than mid 3rd round is not a good draft IMHO.

I would prefer either DeCastro or Upshaw over Coples, but it wouldn't be a terrible pick, at all.
If we pick up Coples at 9th and then Fleener or Weeden in the 2nd, I'd be very satisfied!

I am hoping for Upshaw in the first with Fleener in the second.

Well you should never judge any player based on an all star game but I still would draft him until thrid anyway at best
