About 4 years ago, there were GM leagues going on in here every year. I believe it was all speerheaded by Saint Greg (A Saints fan obviously).

I see no traces of it, which is fine, but wondering if there's a possibility of bringing it back, and if anybody knows how or has the time to speerhead it.

Alright, let me take a different approach.

Does anybody know what a GM league is?

Is anybody interested if I try to kickstart one? I just don't have the time to completely oversee it, but I am willing to get the ball rolling.

If there is interested, I can go into detail exactly what it is. For those that love Fantasy Football, this is very close, except you become the GM, draft players and hire FA's and have to abide by Cap Rules, 53 man roster etc etc etc.

Games aren't actually played.

Each GM chooses a real NFL team. They take on the current roster, current draft order going into this season, the players that are currently entering FA are bid upon etc etc.

The idea is to build the best team abiding by the same rules (Draft order, current roster and cap space) that real NFL teams abide to.
Sometime in beginning of the summer, usually Mid May timeframe, we all vote on who has done the best job in compiling a team. In the past, we opened the voting up to the GM's themselves as well as anybody in VIP.
I imagine that somebody could make and earn a badge?

Ok...now this is making a bit more sense and sounds a lot more realistic than lousy fantasy football.

But I'm still not quite understanding the object...or rather how you win.

And if this were baseball I'd be interested for sure.

Well, most of the fun isn't even if you win or lose, its the premise of owning a team and getting creative with other "Owners" in regards to blockbuster trades and knowing how to better your particular team by trade, FA and the Draft (That should have you interested JCane). The Icing on the cake is a subjective winner picked by peers and perhaps pre-approved constuents (I spoke incorrectly when I suggested it was VIP before. It was actually Premium Members back when that was an active level).

Like I mentioned, Saint Greg used to run it in here, and he of course is a Saint fan. We also had a Cowboy fan that would come into Finheaven just for the GM league, but the vast majority was regular members in here.

If it's gonna happen, it will have to happen in the next couple of weeks before FA really happens and of course the Draft.

As far as active rosters, we pick a starting time, and whoever is active on each roster at that exact time is who everybody is stuck with...whether that be good or bad.
The Manager of the league then picks a Salary cap that is determined by specific means (I will have to review that) as it isn't possible to figure all the ballooned and end loaded salaries into what we are doing.

If nothing else, it made me very aware of the draft, who was really involved in FA and another team (I was the Donkos, Raiduhs and Houston in 3 different years).

Last ditch effort to raise bump this.

If it doesn't garner interest this weekend, I won't bring it up again.

Kind've surprised, used to have LOTS of people interested....
