Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch says President Barack Obama is moving in the right direction on corporate taxes and there's "no question the economy is picking up," but he will still support whoever wins the Republican nomination in November's general election.Mr. Obama is expected to propose lowering corporate tax rates from 35 percent to 28 percent Wednesday, while closing loopholes and ending subsidies to corporations. Appearing on "CBS This Morning," Welch said that Mr. Obama is "clearly" on the right path in terms of corporate tax policy and "as long as they go in this direction, it's all good." Still, he doesn't anticipate anything concrete happening on corporate taxes in an election year. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57382511/welch-obama-on-right-path-but-gop-still-better/?tag=stack

Assessing the race for the White House, Welch said that Republicans have taken their eye off ball recently, letting social issues, not the economy, dominate the debate.

"It's going to depend on who has the best economic program, who, in fact, can assure the American people that they're interested in jobs," he said.

Which is why Obama will get four more years. Well done GOP. Well done.

The funny thing is, I don't know why they are pandering to the social conservatives so much. They will never vote for a democrat (just like the extremists on the left will never vote for a republican). Ever. They may whine that you're not pushing agendas that will bring us back to the middle ages, but in the end, they'll get over it and vote for you simply because you're not that illegal alien Obama. The votes you need are those that want jobs, but also enjoy not going to church and don't really give a **** if a woman can get an abortion or not.

I understand that it's the primaries and that they have to win the party's nomination first, but did they think this through at all? They know they can talk to each other and agree to try not to give Obama so much ammunition for whoever does win, right?

Couldn't agree more. I picture the Obama campaign team sitting in a room and laughing their *sses off while they write down all this crap the GOP is saying. Obama already has an extremely strong campaign team without being thrown all these talking points. All they are doing is making an already strong team even stronger...

Wonder what the two-party system is going to evolve into over the next 20-30 years..

The GOP are political clown shoes and Obama is the clown. Rick Santorum now has a double digit lead on Romney. I don't know what's worse. Romney sucking as a candidate or Rick Santorum beating him. It's a circus that will only get worse with the election. Which is shaping up to be the biggest pile of donkey dung ever.

The same monster. In a perfect world the 2 party system would give us an election between Ron Paul and Rocky Anderson.

Does he really? Well, that's just sad. Really sad. But great for Obama. No way someone as out-of-his mind as Santorum takes the Independent vote...

What the f*ck is wrong with people? This is a man who has openly admitted to having no qualms with breaking the constitution, as long as it promotes his religious beliefs. This is a man who has shown absolutely no remorse for the environment, no compassion for those less fortunate for himself, and no understanding of other religious viewpoints. This is a man who stands for everything the constitution was meant to protect us from, and he is actually the LEADING candidate to run against Obama? For f*cks sake, what happened to this country? Rational and intelligent people have been replaced by retards with BB guns. Being a conservative was a point of pride post WWII. Now, I'd be goddamn embarrassed to be called one. Things like this is why the Republican party is losing supporters at astonishing rates. Rick ****ing Santorum? Are you ****ing kidding me...?

i am not a santorum supporter. but you do realize that obama wasnt considered a moderate when he ran for president. he was ranked the most liberal of all the senators. has championed views such as partial birth abortion, wrote comments in his book about relating to his communist professors, etc. if a guy like obama can win a primary against a moderate hillary clinton, than anythings possible.

like i said, i dislike santorum, but obama is the lefts version and look where he is.

like i said, i dislike santorum, but obama is the lefts version and look where he is.Was he "championing" partial birth abortions and big bad red commies (Wolverines!!) while running for President? Not saying he wasn't a liberal senator, but I don't remember him pushing these issues while running for president, because he was smart enough to realize those views wouldn't win over the independents.

If the GOP focused on jobs and the failures of Obama, they would have a shot at this thing (despite the fact that they wouldn't do anything differently, other than possibly start another war). If they continue to focus on the social conservative bull****, they don't stand a chance and we get 4 more years of the samo samo that we've had for the past 12 years (we get that either way actually).

The difference is that Obama wasn't walking around his rallies spewing socialist talking points, championing the greatness of partial birth abortions, or blatantly campaigning ways to undermine the constitution. This sh*tstain is spewing his fringe-born ideas on national TV, pulling no punches, acting crazy as can be, and he is STILL leading by 10 points? What's wrong with this country...?

i agree 100% with the 2nd paragraph. but i did think obama showed what a leftist he is during the election cycle. reverend wright, joe the plummer, etc gave everyone a glimpse into who he is. everyone was just so pissed at bush that they didnt care. he also had a LARGE segmant of the minority voting block believing they would get free handouts if they vote for him (see youtube).

point is, i didnt think obama had a chance in hell of winning the primary against clinton and neither did she (remember her crying and bill claiming race baiting?). anything can happen, hopefully santorum doesnt get the nomination, i just think all of these people suck though.

He wasn't going around touting partial birth abortion. He just wasn't. He kept to the point that he wasn't Bush (lie) and the idea of "change" (again, lie). The GOP is failing to do that and they are going to hand the victory to Obama.

Point taken. Still have a hard time believing Romney won't be nominated. Santorum will fall like newt did.

This is fraud. Theres no way in hell, that Santorum is leading. NO WAY! Ron Paul is the real leader, but the mainstream media will never admit it. Santorum! Really!? Ive watched Ron Paul consistently wipe his a$$ with Santorums mind. Santorum is a joke and a almost guarenteed 4 more for Obama. Not that it matters, Santorum would do what Obama is doing.
