The best defensive tackle in the draft.

Damn...Mike Mayock compared him to Haloti Ngata as far as movement skills....Also strong as an ox

at that speed, play him at TE and create the BIGGEST mismatches ever at the position.

Would it be dumb to draft this guy and have him and Starks inside with Odrick and Wake at the ends ?? I don't know if we could do that in the situation we are in with needing a playmaker there but it's something to think about. Good luck running the ball up the middle on us ..

I don't know why this keeps coming up but there is no way that Odrick is a 4-3 end, he just doesn't have the pass rush ability. If we re-sign Langford then we have a rotation of Langford, Starks and Odrick at DT with Wake at one end and (right now) Misi at the other. Needless to say, the move to a 4-3 creates a pretty big need at DE. If we can get Peyton Manning, I'd be all about drafting Coples at 8, or trading down for Ingram or Mercilus.

A Soliai replacement?

Why because Odrick was a 4-3 end at Penn State that's why

Odrick had 6 sacks as a 3-4 end in his first year playing is he your typical looking speed rusher no but he is big and strong I think he could do both on 3rd downs u can kick him inside and maybe thru fre agency or draft we can get a pass rush specialist but to say Odrick can't play end he got drafted as an end . Just my opinion, he is a versital guy who will do both I think .

I really don't think that's the case.

I honestly can't understand some Dolphin fans.

Our offense needs more power. Our defense was good enough last year. We only allowed 19 points per game. It was our offense that struggles to put up points that cost us many games.

I know you are just stating fact and that this is truly an amazing feat, but if we draft a defensive tackle again, I will guarantee that this fan base has a caniption (and rightfully so).

It's not a replacement when you are better lol. Soliai upgrade.

While I do agree that his time is RIDICULOUS, I'm more impressed with his in his 10-yard shuffle split of 1.7 seconds - (Comparisons: Demarcus Ware - 1.62, Mario Williams - 1.70, Clay Mathews 1.49, Haloti Ngata 1.78 ). That I think shows a lot more for a DT/D-Lineman b/c it shows his burst and how well he uses his feet in a small space. Basically to me it shows the guy can pass rush, which in turn makes him a 3 down player in the 4-3. The guy already carried a 1st round grade and this will just bump him up more.

You do realize we will lose 2 (Langford & Soliai) of our 3 best D-Linemen in FA this year right? You dont think this will creat a void? Id rather cut McDaniel who carries a $4 million cap number and get this guys. At #8 overall, Id 100% rather have Melvin Ingram, but we should consider a pass rushing DT. Should we trade down I dont mind this pick, but other players should still be considered b/c this is a solid draft for DTs.

P.S. On the topic of DTs, I would 100% pass on Devon Still b/c the guy had an ACL tear in college. That to me is an automatic NO. If he gains some weight int he NFL, which he probably will, that kneww will be problematic for his whole career. I think this guy will drop in the draft for sure.

Football is different every year..Granted we have some good pieces coming back on d but we could also use some upgrades as well... Our d could not get stops when we needed them and we had a pretty weak schedule last year.. NFL teams needs to reload and retool every year to stay competive.

There's this one prospect...will cost as much contract-wise as a #8 overall pick did prior to the rookie wage scale...gosh I can't remember his name, think it's Soleil or Solari, something like that. Freak athlete, ran a 1.63 second 10 yard split at 6'4" and 344 lbs. Played dominant football the last few years. Should really look into him...

If we stay in a 3-4 then I'm for it, although I'd prefer to resign soliai and go after another position

I'm not so sure about that- Odrick has some wheels on him, more that I first suspected. Let him drop a few pounds and I could see him playing DE in a 4-3 and bouncing inside on passing downs with Wake at DE. I'd still prefer DeCastro anyway.

You are wasting your time selling Odrick to some of his detractors on this site. They still label him as a JAG (just another guy), which is pure ignorance. They are incapable of rendering an objective opinion.
I think his detractors are really Dez Bryant fans who still haven't gotten over the Phins not drafting him with the 12th pick.

Maybe your right jlfin and the people who label him jag after breaking his leg then coming back for a good season where he wasn't even a starter and had 6 sacks and played better against the run as the season went on is just dumb and impatient with a young player

Maybe we can use him to trade down. Cowboys need a NT right? Ratliff or whatever his name is is getting pretty old, and we all know how much Ireland loves dealing with Dallas.
