Since 1989 only 2 QB's drafted number 1 overall have won a superbowl. That was Peyton and Eli Manning, I say thats pretty crazy

Three if you count Troy Aikman. He was drafted #1 overall in the '89 draft.

Actually there's only been 11 different quarterbacks period who won a superbowl upon entering the league since 1989. Six of them were 1st round picks (Rodgers, Roethlisberger, E. Manning, P. Manning, Dilfer, Aikman), 2 of them were taken at the top of the 2nd round (Brees, Favre), and 3 of them were either late round picks or undrafted (Warner, Brad Johnson, Tom Brady).

It is no coincidence that A. Miami hasn't enjoyed success in the NFL since Marino retired and B. them "not" drafting a first round QB, stretch across the same timeline.

Sure you can hope to develop Pat Devlin, Matt Moore and Matt Flynn . . . but truth be told, you really limit your probability of winning a Super Bowl by not investing something into a first round QB or a guy that was a first round QB. Not saying it can't happen, but you would think a team like Miami would have learned its lesson by now.

Hey if Philbin wants Flynn, the comfort of him working with him for 4 years at Green Bay puts my mind at ease alot, but 7th round pick and winning a Super Bowl certainly don't go hand in hand, especially in recent years.
