View Full Version : New Term of Service

FinHeavenAJ

Hello To All Members:

A new term of service will be initiated starting tonight. According to Section 11 of the Terms of Service (click here) (http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1655):

Avatars and signatures should not have any type of nudity or be too risque. Basically, nothing sexually explicit. We believe this is fair as avatars and signatures are in every forum, in some forums these pictures may or may not be allowed. Thus, there should be no pictures, as stated above, in one's avatar or signature. However, images such as stated in the above may be posted in The Ladies Lounge. (http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&forumid=62)

If you have any questions, please ask. However, please keep in mind that if it's a question like, "Is this picture ok?" then it most likely isn't, and thus just post it in The Ladies Lounge, which is located within The Lounge.

Sincerely,
Andrew Tatum

It was just some skin bro. What is risque about it? Nip was covered. I honestly don't understand.

That was a planned stunt and it was OK for CBS but not an internet message board?

I understand its your site and board and all, I just don't understand why its risque. Edit: It DEFINITELY isn't sexually explicit.

Think about this guys. If a 6 year old comes in and sees this Janet Jackson picture, and the mother sees, and reports it to whomever enforces the internet laws, finheaven could be punished, maybe even as far shutting it down. I think thats worse than changed an avatar......

Sheeeeeesh.

Aren't we being a little too conservative and prudish when something like this pic becomes a cencorship issue?

Unreal.

NavyFishFan, it's not just one picture we are talking about though. There are plentiful floating around. This isn't a decision that "I" just made, it's a staff decision.

Also, to note... even though CBS planned it, it's not ok for the national print media... for example:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/02/01/superbowl.jackson.ap/index.html

They cut that picture down so its unseen. I can almost guarantee that all national print media will be the same as well.

Besides, we're not saying that you can't post these things at all. Instead, it needs to be tightened up so the main forum is a little cleaner. If you want to see pictures of babes or whatever, there is a forum and photo gallery.

Also, please note that Dolphin cheerleaders are OK... even the swimsuit edition...

I totally agree...

I understand that you guys want to keep smut and crap off the boards, but this was on "National TV." You can be sure that you will probably see it 1000 times again. I definetly see the need for some sort of censorship to protect the inocent children... however, the fact that she was covered makes it something that shouldn't be IMO.

I see what you're saying.

Sad statement of affairs overall for the U.S. imo. Anybody been to Europe? Many many many Americans would have a heart-attack if they walked the downtown shopping districts in....say....Greece.

This country needs to come off it. We're the only "super power" type country that has issues with a little skin.

That said...I understand your decision.

I guess the 6 year old can't watch any news or program on TV for a few days then I suppose, because that is all anyone is going to be talking about. I'm so sick of this non-breast its ridiculous.

Please realize that you can still view and post these images, just in the respective forum. Just as there are channels like HBO after midnight, there are forums for pictures like this  Ok, so maybe that's a little extreme for a comparison... but you get the point.

That's the problem guys. It WASN'T good enough for national television. That's why the NFL is highly p*ssed right now. That's why the TV stations are being flooded with complaints. Even our local NBC affiliate is getting calls.....and the game was on CBS.

It's not CBS' call whether or not my kids to see what they showed on TV tonight. I don't have kids. But you get the point. They made the decision for everyone. And that is not their right.

And BTW, it wasn't totally covered. I've seen a pic and you can see everything.

I must say I'm disappointed with the early response. So if CBS sees it fit to show hardcore pr0n, it's ok?? That seems to be the reasoning from some here.

This is a football forum. Not a girly mag. If anything, the photos were off topic. And you now have a forum for them.

I know what you are saying. I was born and raised in germany and I grew up with a naked lady on page 3 in my daily newspaper. Not to mention the 8 movie theatre complex of adult movies in the city of Berlin which featured gigantic billboards with naked women and thousand of mothers with their children walked by it.

Smut is allowed. But just not publicly in the US. You have to hide it (sex at work) but raise your finger when you see the shade of a breast on TV.

One thing you have to do though: you have to follow rules. AJ doesn't want it here except at a certain place just follow the rule.

The BIGGEST reason for this being a GOOD idea has not even been mentioned.

Some people browse these sites at work... whether during work hours or on their lunch-hour... if it is not expressly forbidden it is not a problem for most companies.

However, if sysadmin's are randomly checking logs or looking at individual images downloaded by certain users and a bunch of half-naked women are coming up cached, I am SURE they would have a problem with that.

Wouldn't have to worry about sysadmins.

I'll say thanks AJ, and that this rule is probaly overdue. Some of the stuff that gets put up on these boards is just going over the top. To you all that disagree, just because you may like to spend your time gazing a porn (no, I'm not saying most of the stuff here is porn, just making a point) doesn't mean the rest of us do as well.

Since Navy keeps bringing up Europe (and I lived there for two years so I KNOW Europe well) he should also know that, in Europe, there is almost no gore or violence shown in regular television programming (i.e. CSI would not be allowed on their channels over there.) Would you guys like it if I put a picture of some rotting body in my signature? I don't thinks so, it would be disrespectful and out of line. The same goes for half (or entirely in some cases) naked women posted here since we have female posters and they should feel just as welcome as the male ones period.

Perhaps if you had any sort of a clue you might realize that what I said was absolute, 100%, total fact and not some fantasy made up.

In all fairness, you didn't provide any proof or fact either Cranx...just opinion.

My opinion of what I saw on TV in various countries over there is closer to FFiB's. Violence and gore is there too.

As I said, I lived there for two years (in Germany) and I got to know the culture there very well. While there is a certain amount of violence and a small amount of gore (i.e. they'll show blood) it does not even come close to approaching the level that is seen here in the U.S. Shows like CSI, ER, The Shield, and many others that I can't recall at the moment, simply would not be allowed to air over in Europe. This is not simply my opinion however, ask the European dudes that post on thes boards (I know "Gonk" is from England and there's a German fan who frequently posts here but I can't remember his screen name) about it; that's just the way things are over there.

As for my evidence, I'm providing direct, first hand, eye witness testimony which, by law, is not simply "opinion," whereas the other dude is simply calling me a liar and adding nothing to it; big difference there.

I lived in Germany and spent time in France, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy and television programming is all about the same. As for UK TV, I watch BBC America on occasion and their versions of our shows are MUCH more mellow.

As for "window shopping" that was interesting. A couple of friends and I were curious about this so we cruised through the "red light" district in Neurenburg and that simply a surreal experience. It was sorta' like walking along the sidewalk of a strip mall except, instead of clothes, food, and other crap, the stuff on display was......

Scrappy - I was not attacking you or your avatar. I am just curious to know how it is possible to have the avatars that are available on this site (the most of which I beleive are copyrighted), but I cannot have a picture of a cheerleader that was available on ANY newstand in the US.

I understand the concern, but let's look at this realistically:

1. It is no one elses job to monitor what my kids look at on the Internet, TV, Video, or listen to on the radio. Thanks for your concern, but that job belongs to me and my wife.

2. If someone wants to look at these pictures that are easliy viewable elsewhere, they will. Honestly, they were told how to do it in the original post (The Lounge).

3. If people are that easily offended by a picture of a cheerleader with her arm crossed over her breast and holding a football between her legs (I have seen more exposure at the beach) then we have a huge problem in America.

If you don't like what you see, turn the channel, turn the page, or simply turn the thing off! If you don't lilke what your kids are doing or seeing, then be their parent and take some action to correct the problem.

I understand the new policy and wholeheartedly agree with it.

Don't get me wrong - I like naked/scantily-clad chicks in provocative poses just as much as the next guy. But I've had the signatures turned off for a long time now for 3 reasons:
My work - I don't want co-workers thinking I'm browsing for porn.
My wife - I don't want my wife thinking I browsing for porn.
My kids - my 3-year old started asking questions I shouldn't have to answer while reading about my 'Fins.
Keep them where appropriate so I know when I have to be looking over my shoulder.
