I am only now getting into the Linux stuff. Better late than never I guess. I downloaded, onto a DVD, Ubuntu and using the Bluefish Editor. Yes, HTML5, CSS3, PHP...the whole nine yards. It's all very cool. Very, very cool.

I was just curious to learn who is into this stuff? :err:

Currently I am learning the syntax for both HTML5 and JavaScript.

After that, in the following order, I will begin teaching myself:

CSS3
PHP
WordPress

...all the while getting down with Linux.

At least that is my initial plan. What ya think?

Web programming (designing supreme sites (among other goodies) is my goal). I am giving myself at least a year (or less).

Being a a very young novice, am I on the right track?

The new one comes out next month they are released every October and April. Download wine when u get a chance so u can emulate windows programs. Get vlc its the best video player. If your into programming check out python since its used by windows Mac Linux and android phones now. Also I believe screenlets are cool so check that out to make your desktop look cool. They may not work anymore I still use 10.04.

If you learn html5 I wouldn't even bother with Java since everything Java does is done better more efficiently in HTML same goes for flash now. I tinker with it so I am no expert and I have a bias for python due to cross platform and its how started first game before I left the project 6 years ago. Check it out nexuiz. I do like CSS and PHP. If you skip Java and WordPress I think you'd be at a great start.

MySQL?

MySQL is great to learn with PHP. And if you're already using all of that (or learning) you might as well throw in Apache and go with the full LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) architecture.

Is Apache opensourse?

Is Apache opensourse?

Yes. Apache is licensed free software.

Apache is just a web server.

So you have your Linux Operating system, the apache web server, and then your website developed in basic HTML along with PHP for an interactive site and then your MySQL database that the page connects to which pulls/displays/stores information on your page.

PHP question: Can Comment Lines be written before the end tag (semicolon) so whitespace can be trimmed down (even within the syntax itself) prior to sending the code to the interpreter?
