Weighed in at 213

so every bit of at least 15 lbs less than his playing weight...i'd stay away personally

It was said he played closer to 240. He was 219 lbs at the combine and refused to run despite being healthy...he didn't do any of the drills despite being healthy. So he lost an additional 6 lbs for his pro day...I worry about this kid ballooning up when he gets that paycheck.

I like him, personally. That said: I don't want to draft him. I was very high on him until his weight issues came out which tells me he's 1.) lazy and 2.) could eat himself out of the league like Mike Williams did. Unless he falls to good value, I wouldn't use a pick on him right now.

It doesn't matter what any of these kids run... what matters is how fast they play the game of football.

Alshon Jeffrey plays the game around 4.55... which is decent for a receiver with his size and ability to high point the football.

He can play the game. I have him as a solid late 2nd/early 3rd round prospect, and one of the top 8 receivers in this draft... with the ability to outplay his draft position if he works at his craft even a little bit.

I'd take a chance on the kid. He put up impressive numbers against SEC corners. He's a big target, attacks the ball in the air, has good body control and strong hands. No, he's not the fastest guy in the world but he's a football player. Give me that guy over the guy with the measurables and timed speed anyday. I will say his weight issues are a concern but in the 2nd or even early 3rd, you'd be crazy not to take a chance

I want to say that I remember him on some top 10 or 20 lists before the season. I'm not really a fan. At 213 lbs, he lightened up to get his speed up. He probably plays at 230 and runs between 4.55 and 4.6. I don't like his short area burst. I'd consider him in the 3rd, but I'd really prefer a different type of receiver, IMO.

i fail to see how he fits in this o anyways...i can see where in some o's its worth the gamble in round 3 but not for us with a top 50 pick...

If you listen to coach Philbin the receiver he want's catches slants and can stop and go without losing any speed sounds like a Kendall Wright type.

concern for jeffery with me is will he separate at the next level when he gets back to a more playing weight and loses some of that track speed...that and route running...which i think is pretty lousy...he also was listed at like 6 ft 5 or something crazy and came in at 6 ft 2 and some change i believe

anyways...i don't think he's in play for us at all

More from Jeffery's Pro Day
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/tony_pauline/03/01/pro.days/index.html

The anticipated workout of South Carolina receiver Alshon Jeffery is almost over, and thus far the reviews have been mixed. Jeffery weighed in at 213 pounds this morning, three less than his combine weight. His vertical jump touched 36 inches, slightly better than the average of 35 7/8 inches for the wideouts who jumped at the combine. Unofficially, his broad jump measured 10-2, again slightly better than the average of 9-11 from receivers at the combine.
His 40 times averaged between a high of 4.55 seconds on his first attempt to a low of 4.47 seconds on the second run. Those in attendance said Jeffery seemed to stumble a bit at the start of his second run. All 32 teams are represented at the workout and the players are about to start position drills.

For the most part receiver Alshon Jeffery leaves the workout with improved opinions from teams than when he started this morning. His official 40 times are being charted as 4.49/4.50 seconds, and Jeffery posted an impressive three-cone time of 6.71 seconds. His other marks included a short-shuttle of 4.09 seconds and 60-yard shuttle of 11.10 seconds. Jeffery came to the workout looking buff at 6-2 and 213 pounds. Scouts were impressed with his conditioning and the way he proceeded through the workout. During position drills Jeffery caught just about everything thrown in his direction, plucking the ball away from his body and effortlessly making receptions. His route running is still suspect, as Jeffery struggled to quickly get in then out of breaks, and its a skill he needs to improve. Overall the effort today is likely to push the big receiver back into the top part of round two.

Good. I hope he pushes himself up the board past Kendal Wright and Wright falls into our laps in the 2nd.
