Here's a link to a proposed REVISED NFL Draft Value Chart that takes a number of factors into consideration vs the early 90's chart Jimmy Johnson used? Question is: Is this a more realistic chart than the "Standard" chart? Does it better set expectations? Seems like the best values are 2nd & 3rd Round.

I don't know why you'd assign less value to top-10 picks when they just entered a rookie wage scale that makes those picks much more valuable.

I was just thinking the same thing. The amount the Rams just got for the 2nd overall pick should make it obvious that the value of picks in the top 10 just increased exponentially...

Yeah, I was going to bring up the Rams example. Great minds :^p

I would have to compare it side by side to really get a feel for it. I honestly thought the old chart was way out of date the past few years because rookie contracts were totally out of control. However with the rookie wage scale now in effect the old chart seems relevant again. I don't understand how they justify shaving 600 points off the 1st overall. Who came up with this thing?

Was thinking the same thing. If anything the value of the picks should go up since you've lessened the monetary risk involved in drafting a player early. If that kid fails your franchise isn't held hostage with all the money spent on a player that's doing nothing for you.
