Should we draft a wr with our 2nd pick? I think we should go for the best wr or de available.

Should we draft a wr with our 2nd pick? I think we should go for the best wr or de available. Why would we do that? We just traded Marshall who was proven talent and cost us a 2nd round pick.

I think we have to take a pass rusher. Lots of wide receivers in this draft. Depending on who's available, of course.

Check out what this Miami scout says about Upshaw:

Simon: Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE, Alabama: Miami won’t take Upshaw at 8. But his situation everything that’s wrong with the draft season; all of a sudden he’s a tweener with no natural position. Wrong. He’s the most violent defender in the draft, with the most violent hands and the fact of the matter is, he’s the best player on the best defense on the best team in the nation. Switch on the tape and tell me that’s not what you see.

Bobby Massie*, OT, Ole Miss
Height: 6-6. Weight: 316.
40 Time: 5.23.
Bench: 22. Arm: 35.
Projected Round (2012): 2.
4/24/12: Massie has quietly moved up draft boards. He had a decent Combine but reportedly had an impressive pro day. Some believe he could crack the first round but should go in the top half of the second round. It wouldn't be a complete shock if a team takes him over Adams.

Massie had some quality games this season, but did not have his best performance against Alabama. He did well in run blocking in 2011. Massie is too strong to be bull rushed, and he has the athletic ability to mirror well in pass blocking.

Massie is still a little raw and could use more experience and development. There are stretches where he simply overwhelms defenders. Massie looks like he is a future starter at right tackle in the NFL.

stepen hill, i thought he'd be picked up late in the first, but unfortunately there are teams that would like a WR or could pick one before miami in the 2n round so unfortunately he might not fall to miami even if early in the 2nd round. But miami needs a WR and a big play go to guy, and while stephen hill isn't polished, I think he has the talent and potential to be a no.1 WR for miami to be the no.1 Wr taking over the spot b.marshall used to have for miami and what miami greatly needs.

Ok we got our potential qb of the future with tannehill, now its time for a top Wr to get that other missing piece on offense after miami traded marshall. I was kind of suprised that some of the WRs didn't get picked late in the first round.. And some good talent that could, or I hope fall to miami early 2nd round. What do you think of Stephen hill? didn't think he'd make it out of the first round especially since he was like rated as the 3 or 4 best WR in this draft on a lot of scouts charts and has big play making potential. Reuben randle seems like he could be a good pick too. Unfortunately the 9 teams before miami are teams that could pick or need a WR so unforutunatley hill could be gone, but then again maybe randle and some team likes alshon jeffrey and gets him instead. Either way, what do you guys think of stephen hill or miami getting him?

Id like Alshon Jeffery

yeah but what worries me about him is his lack of explosion and what others say his inability of seperation he got his catches from using his size, that isn't going to work as much in the nfl, burst and getting separation is huge for a WR to becoming successful and being a legit WR in the league. From what ive seen jeffrey seems to lack and his lacking ability to get separation just makes me think of Mike Williams a few years ago who was a big Wr but a bust because of that

yeah but I don't want miami to just get a nice no.2 or complimentary WR, streeter and the others seem like good complimentary ones, whereas, randle and especially hill even though Raw has the talent and upside to be a no.1 WR in my opionion and have the upside of Michael floyd as far as the the few WRs to be legit no.1s unlike streeter and sanu, etc. Who knows maybe the others will as weve seen 2nd rounders and later WRs becomes top Wrs in the league.

imo we need , hill/Randel 2nd and trade bk up in the 2nd Fleener, for maybe our 2/3s or a 3rd and 4th then grab a RT in the 3rd , 4th or maybe 4th ,5th.

LikeUntoGod
04-26-2012, 11:39 PM
We need the best RT we can get to complete and repair our offensive line. One of these two RTs would give us a All Pro LT, a very good young center and a bookend RT. This will help in so many ways from the running game to the passing game. For instance, A Fasano who is a top 10 all around NFL TE will have the chance to run more routes. He only dropped one pass last season. Whoever is QB will have more time, the time to allow C Gates and C Clay to run deeper routes. Bush and Thomas will have someone to set the edge on running plays.

I know people want a WR etc now but you start with the OL so it can protect the rookie QB then after the QB is up to speed, start finding him more WRs etc.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2012OT.php

Jonathan Martin*, OT, Stanford
Height: 6-5. Weight: 312.
Projected 40 Time: 5.18.
Arm: 34.
Projected Round (2012): Top-25 Pick.
4/6/12: Martin was sick at the Combine, so he didn't work out. Martin had a solid performance at his pro day. The need for tackles could push him higher in the draft than many have him ranked.

Martin had a good overall season. He was a solid blocker in defending Andrew Luck's blind side, proving the signal-caller with quality pass protection all year. There were some games that Martin allowed some pressure, but he was reliable.

In 2011, Martin was a good run blocker, and the Cardinal ran behind him all year with some huge successes on the ground. Stanford totaled 446 yards on the ground against Washington and had many other big days running the ball.

Martin sets the edge well and is a good athlete to hit blocks on the second level. He had some penalty problems earlier in the season, but cleared that up. Martin is a better run-blocking franchise left tackle prospect than many former high first-rounders, but he will need to continue to improve his pass blocking for the NFL.

There is also Guard Cordy Glenn there, this depends on what we think about Mutha, Garner, Hicks etc. Without completing our OL, draft playmakers on offense are a semi waste of time. Plus lineman last longer. We are rebuilding here folks

Cordy Glenn, G/OT, Georgia
Height: 6-5. Weight: 345.
40 Time: 5.15. 10-Yd Split: 1.76.
Bench: 31.
Arm: 35 3/4. Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
4/24/12: At the Combine, Glenn showed off excellent speed with a surprisingly fast 40 time for such a large man. His only real flaw is his feet, but he has the potential to improve on that in the NFL. Some teams will consider keeping him at tackle in the NFL. After a rough first day at the Senior Bowl, Glenn played very well in the remaining practices and in the actual game.

As a senior, Glenn was a starter at left tackle. In many games in 2011, he was dominant. Glenn has the power, balance and long arms to make him a well-rounded blocker. He had no problem opening holes in the ground game, and generally was a good pass protector.

so streeter has no.1 WR potential? you said he has upside. why is he graded as 3rd round talent then if so? I havent looked at his scouting report, and I know WRs like chad johnson, steve smith from Panthers and b marshall have all been drafter in 2nd round and later and have been top Wide outs in the league or well chad johnson was for 7 years until he got too self absorbed and I think less focused on football plus age. but just wondering

Look up streeters highlights, he looks really impresive, i can see him becoming a star.

In my mind Curry is the first choice, we need a pass rusher. IF we don't get one then Hill, Randle would be nice guys to put in place to improve the WR corps. After that the value for OL in the 2nd is nice. ANy of the three would be great players for us. The value in the 2nd is matching up with our needs. I hope we are all happy with who we get.

BtWay, we gave up 52 sacks and a LOT of hurries last season and now we have Teams like the Bills getting pass rushers M Williams and M Anderson, And the Jets drafted pass rusher DE Quinton Coples. and the Patriots drafted two in DE Chandler Jones and 6'2" 265 ILB Donta Hightower.

We are in a defensive line vs offensive line arms race that we are losing and without improvement to our OL we could could suffer though a season with 55 or more sacks 2012.

We need to keep up with the teams in our division.

Fleener going to Indy.

WR is deep

guys who are high on boards are Peter Konz (would be an excellent pick) and Curry. One of those two. Massie is also very likely but I think Buffalo takes him one pick before us.

Fleener I think is the Rams first pick tomorrow. If not the Rams, Colts will be right after. I would love to have randle. Good quickness and would fit the west coast beautifully.

Don't disagree, and I'm a big fan of Massie, but the pass rushers are coming off the board really quickly. I think we have to get a pass rusher in the 2nd, simply because I don't want to watch Brady flat-footed in the pocket for 10 seconds just waiting for an open man. I think Curry, Upshaw or Branch.

04-27-2012, 12:38 AM
I think if martin is there I'd take him. Early in the process he was projected as a top 10 pick and our Oline gave up a huge percentage of sacks on passing plays (meaning we got sacked a lot, especially considering we didn't pass that often). I doubt he'll be there though, the Colts are going to take one of Luck's former teammates with that 1st pick in the 2nd and I'd bet it'd be Martin before Fleener.

Alshon Jeffery I do NOT see as a WCO one receiver.

Virtually a carbon copy of the guy we gave to the da's last month, including the character. Pass.

Getting Stephen Hill past the next group of teams would be nice. Or if Fleener drops which won't happen. As long as we stay away from the satanists like Upshaw. I was scared to death Dallas moved up to get Thill and was going to leave us stuck w/Barron. We should stay away from anyone connected with the stink and stench that is our former lying coach.

Stephen Hill would make this draft a winner to me. He's a monster. He's got great size and speed and can make big plays without the who Brandon Marshall/Demanding the ball routine. Great blocker. I think he could very well turn out to be the best WR in this draft and I was a huge fan of Blackmon. I don't know if he'll be there when we pick, but I wouldn't mind trading up for him.

People have mentioned Streeter. As a Cane's fan i would like that but he's very raw. Not good with routes except "go long Tommy" Good size and speed plus he caught tons of TD passes. Maybe a 3rd or 4th round project at best. Should have stayed in school another year.

I'm a big cane fan as well, and have always been flabergasted why we refused to take the homegrown talent that just goes and stars all over the NFL, but IMHO taking Streeter would be like taking Carey....Streeter has phenomenal size, and good strength, but is a long strider, was only effective on fly routes, mostly, and again came out of nowhere this year, I do understand the lure of the NFL, but he did disservice to himself by coming out this year, he needed another year of Golden and crew, to develop more. I do think Streeter has talent, and explosion, but feel he isnt exactly what we need.

IMO, and just my opinion, a super quick, agile guy who is quick in and out of his cuts, with some toughness is what we need(Givens, NAPALM, Adams, TY Hilton, Broyles or M Jones) or a bigger guy, who maybe not as quick or explosive but runs great routes, has shown yac ability in college, shown toughness (RANDLE, Hill, {as a cane fan putting those 2 last name together brings bad Dolphin memories} Childs, Toon, Criner, Sanu) I believe a combination of 1 quicker smaller guy and 1 big physical guy could bring the necessary talent for our receiving core. I really like Randle, Hill and Childs and believe they have dynamic ability, and then a Givens, NAPALM, Broyles as the complimentary guy, love the Napalm nickname, and where we could draft him too.....I would also like to take a late flyer on 1 of the Canes guys in the 7th Benjamin or Byrd just for competition, may be one makes it....Benj could add to special teams, but must put some size on......also wondered if he needs a position switch ala Sam Shields....your thoughts....

I think Miami goes DE with the 2nd pick. So either Upshaw or Curry. I think Upshaw will be gone so that`ll leave Curry. Don`t be surprised if they take the Tackle from Stanford, Jonathan Martin. It`ll be tempting to get a WR as either Hill, Randle, Sanu and Jeffrey will be there, but, this draft is deep in WR`s so Miami will probably wait until the 3rd round.

Follow your board where need is factor.

Peter Konz and Martin should be up on peoples boards. Cordy Glenn but does he fit Philbins Prototype.

Fleener will be gone and Konz could be gone with Baltimore.

Curry seems to fit.

I think the need for a RT is far less with Murtha manning the position. Omar Kelly seems to think and has mentioned it a few times, Murtha is ready to be a starter!!! and to be honest Murtha did a good job at the LT spot in place of Long, while Long recovered during the pre-season last year. I think it's more likely that and Athletic OG who can pull or a center, since Pouncey is still having snapping issues, will be addressed in these upcoming rounds (2-7)

We have our developmental QB. I'm happy with the Tannehill pick. Now what we need to do is draft impact players that can help this team win now.

Nick Perry was the guy I wanted. I think Green Bay got one heck of a talent.

Since he is gone, I'll take Vinny Curry. I'd absolutely love Coby Fleener, but he is a luxury pick right now. We have more important holes which need filling, and I don't even think Miami is looking at Fleener.
