The other way to be really lazy...and this is what I like to do...Is cook **** in the oven..Onions shrooms and bacon can all go in the oven...Set that mofo at 350 check on them every 5 to 7 minutes til they look good..

Bought everything today.

However, I sent a woman to pick up the bread. She didn't return with exactly what I was looking for in that department so I have my doubts as to how I can make this work...nonetheless, it's going down tomorrow.

I just passed this along to my mom who is quite skilled in the culinary area so she got to see all your wonderful comments. She says it's definitely doable but her only concern is that the bread might get soggy. I think I can get her to try it out for our next family shin-dig.

I was at my moms house for Mothers Day and her BF made some Burgers on the grill but they bought the meat, seasoned it and made the patties. He cooked bacon in the over and chopped it up in pieces like bacon bits and rolled them in patties . So ****ing good. That dude makes some good ****. Going there today for my brothers birthday for some brisket and double baked potatoes (Makes bake potatoes, then puts mash potatoes over and bakes again, adds bacon) . Holy **** I'm hungry just thinking of it.

It's pretty damn good. But if anyone attempts to recreate this, I'd look into finding a way to really make the steaks as tender as possible.

I bought two ribeye steaks from Whole Foods. Cost me about $30 for both. Toughest part was finding a decent Italian crust bread. The one I used wasn't a perfect circle. It was more oval than anything and it was undersized. So I struggled to stuff both steaks in there.

I used the two ribeyes, 10 strips of oven-baked bacon, six slices of pepperjack and six slices of Swiss cheese.

I also added more condiments to this monstrosity. I used lite Miracle Whip mayonnaise on the bottom piece, lite BBQ sauce on the top piece, ranch dressing, A! steak sauce, and more horseradish sauce than any other condiment.

I didn't press it for four hours either. I pressed mine for just over an hour. I own a massive Kennedy toolbox that has so serious weight to it.

Didn't take long to flatten this thing out even with two thick cut ribeyes in there.

You know you've made a man's sandwich when a toolbox gets involved.

Take a flank steak or otherwise lower cut of meat and grab yourself a tenderizing hammer and pound the steak out. Wrap the steak in plastic wrap it helps a little bit with the hammer doing to much damage to the meat, watch your counter top, a meat hammer will **** some **** up.

I'd start out with a piece of meat about 3/4 of an inch to 1" thick and pound it down to around 1/2 to 1/4 inch before cooking. That should tenderize the meat so you don't act like a Wolf ripping meat of a dead deer while eating the sammich. It will also reduce the need to press the sammich for such a long time, I would think a good press would be two cast iron skillets, one smaller than the next. Place the sammich in the larger one and place the other skillet on top, add a gallon of water in a jug for more weight.

NY8123 is going to create this over Memorial Day Weekend with normal kitchen items and I will also try to keep the cost down to a reasonable price, lets say $20 range. Stay tuned boys and girls, pictures and comments to come Saturday or Sunday this week.

Yea I would not use Ribeyes..Too much fat on them and they can get a bit tough if you dont cook them rare...I would go for something like shirt steak or top round..but i would slice it...to make it extra tender or use something that I could braise to make it melt into the sandwich a bit like short ribs or chuck roast. I would stay away from mircle whip tho...yuck....Panera has a great assorment of round style breads that would be perfect for this sammich..but panera is pretty expensive..

OK boys and girls here is the monstwich the NY8123 made to perfection!

I have exactly $37.18 tied up in all the ingredients, I was trying to keep it as low cost but still maintain the quality of the ingredients. I know in a prior post I said $20 but there is no way you can build this sandwich for under $20 unless you raise your own beef and grow your own vegetables.

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

Here is the receipt:

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

As I expected using a meat tenderizer (hammer) to pound out a piece of meat helped break down the steak so it was easier to chow down this monster sandwich. I pounded out the steak to about twice its original size:

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

I took my heavy cast iron skillet and fried down 1lbs of maples flavored bacon! I left the bacon a little tender so it was easier to work with but if you like it crunchy by all means fry it down as much as you desire. After the bacon was done I removed the bacon but left all the bacon grease in the skillet and sautéed the 1 Valida onion and 2 peppers and then after about 10 to 15mins I added the mushrooms:

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

Ok on to the assembly process, I managed to find a round loaf of what was called Marco Polo bread (no **** that's what it is called) and it worked perfectly for this monstwich, I used Olive Oil cracked peppercorn mayo and Sweet Baby Ray's honey BBQ sauce, 1/4lb of swiss, 1/4 of provo and of course in an good cooking adventure you must have a beer(s):

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

I found a very simple solution to something that is hard to find, butchers paper! I looked and looked for the paper and of course the only thing I found is wax paper and that is nfg. So the solution presented itself at the check out counter, paper or plastic, paper of course! Oh........and no redneck adventure is complete without duct tape!

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

On to the pressing, I wanted to use household items to he average person could do this in the kitchen and what did I use to press this with but none other than a cooler of full of ice and meat and two gallon jugs of iced tea. I would say I had about 40 to 50lbs of total weight and I let it press for the whole 4 hours. If you add more weight the pressing will take less time.

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

Now for th final product and let me tell you this is worth every penny and worth every second that you put into this monstwich, it is one of the best sandwiches that I have ever assembled.

http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

Yeah you can save a few bucks on the meat, the meat definitely was not the bargin of the purches. I was going more for a certain thickness and size here Tuna. I didn't want to wait at the butchers counter either, Wegman's was ****ing retarded with people when I was shopping.

The Top round was right there and exectly what I needed plus I knew I was going to pound it out with a meat hammer.
