Of all the words to try and reclaim, why conservative? Ron Paul is the opposite of a conservative.

Ron Paul is a Classical Liberal, which is great.

I'm so sick of people going "Ya, well I"m Conservative," yet go right on the offensive about how they hate gay people, abortions, and how they want the government to be gigantic and deal with them, as well as other "undesirables" that they can't stand. No, you're not conservative, you're just a big government socialist. Or the ones who are convinced the US is going to hell in a handbasket and that we'd better start preparing for the next Civil War soon. Don't get it at all. I think too many people are on drugs these days, and not the good ones.

Limited Gov't In Name Only, to sound cool.

When it comes to the small government conservative philosophy of more freedom, sound fiscal/monetary policies, following the constitution and less government in our lives. Romney can't hold a candle to Paul and those principles.

Obama vs. Romney 2012 is nothing but a choice between which big brother you want in your life.

Why do people have to be "pure" in what they believe? Why do they have to be 100% to the right, or 100% to the left, or they suck balls? That's how we get people like Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, and Ken Buck. You have these partisans going on headhunts about how they're going to make sure a "real" Conservative runs. How does one define "real"? Because they want to slash taxes, programs, and spending, then show the rest of the country how awesome they can be when they shoot an M-16 in the air, proclaiming that " 'merica rocks!"?

This whole ideological purity nonsense is completely absurd. If you compromise and talk to the other side, you're a traitor to your district, state, and country. It's pretty ****ed up how things have gotten. Kind of scary too.

But there is nothing conservative about Ron Paul's approach. He wants to radically remake the United States. Ron Paul is either a liberal or a right-wing libertarian.

It is funny how we associate the world conservative with authoritarian economics mixed with liberal economic principles. Romney wants to keep deficit spending and wars, which is a conservative approach to changing the last twelve years. Obama is a conservative too.

When it come to the ultra partisans like Christine O'Donnell and the like, I totally agree. The one's that stand on principle to the point of defying their own party are the one's I like.

Our current polices are the radical ones. I see him more as a libertarian/constitutionalist. The modern day "conservative" is a lie just as much as Obama's/Dems/liberalism/socialist is a lie. Where's Snake???
A true conservative by definition wouldn't have supported the policies of Bush and Romney as well. IMO if Bush really was a conservative that followed the constitution. We wouldn't have the mess we have now.

I like people who stick to their guns too. I don't like the uber partisans either, right or left. The Occupy douchebags are just as bad as the Tea Party as far as I'm concerned.

At some point, you just have to accept it. Politicians are nothing more than a lost legion of glorified used car salesmen.

It's a shame really. I was rooting for both in the beginning. Everytime something good comes along it gets hijacked.

I think Most people think of Conservatives as Pro-life anti gay marriage pro gun 100% anti illegal-immigration mostly on social issues I think is what most people think of as a Conservative.

I agree. I was a fan of both at the start, too. Then the tea party got hijacked by neo-cons, the no-compromisers/Norquist types, religious nutjobs, and anti-government militia-types, and the Occupy movement could never get an actual leader nor ever come out with what they actually stood for, and then got hijacked by hipsters.

Damn shame.

I remeber when the Tea Party first came out they were more of A libertarin type movement and many of them supported Ron Paul then a bunch of right wing religous nut jobs hijacked it.

Quote of the night.

It' funny really. With all that hooting and howling between Occupy and Tea Party we still got left with Obama vs. Romney. The whole thing is rigged.

I feel the same exact way Glenn Beck is a disgrace to libertarians and giving them a bad name I used to feel bad for the guy for how he was always the butt of all political jokes from correspondents and far left Liberals but in a interview he said of all the Republicans running for president the 2 he really liked were Michelle Bachman and Rick Santorum when he said that my first thought was this guy deserves every bit of negativity he has towards him.
