Based on what I heard about Clyde Gates not picking up the offense... I'm really not too worried about it.

Jets claimed WR Clyde Gates off waivers from the Dolphins.

From one of the league's worst receiver corps to another. A fourth-round pick last season, Gates is a true burner, but proved to be extraordinarily raw as a rookie, making just two catches in 15 games. He's not the answer for the Jets' beleaguered receiver corps.

The Jets are very active in signing guys. Not surprised they signed Gates. Their WR corps is almost as bad as the Dolphins

my biggest problem with gates is i feel we overdrafted him. I spoke about him at great length last year about him being a very raw prospect but of course was chided and told he was a much better prospect than johnny Knox.

Moore has continued to develop. Gates is already 40 years old and can't run a single route.

Hahaha. The Jets might as well call themselves Dolphins North.

They hire our fired coaches, claim our cut players, sign our castoff free agents, etc.. If Rex Ryan didn't have a hard on for Tim Tebow, Sparano would have convinced the Jets to grab Chad Henne too. hahahah

Well, if Ireland, who from an ego standpoint, is notorious for holding on to his picks too long, got rid of Gates after one year, especially on a receiving roster as bad as the jest, it speaks volumes, especially when you got the HC who understands the difference between a Greg Jennings, James Jones vs a Gates.

Also, realistically, at this point, Turner wouldn't start for us and did it ever occur to you that Jason Taylor might well have been the main reason the jest had 1 legitimate winning season instead of 7-7-2 or 8-8 the one season he was there? Coincidence? I think not.

But nonetheless it's entertaining how you spin ****.

Jason taylor made about 2-3 plays all year, he hurt us as much as he helped us so no it never occured to me that he was the reason b/c he wasn't the reason but you should be appreciative of the fact that the Jets got him further than he ever got in Miami.

Further proof the New York Jets can do no wrong and are the complete opposite of the worst team in sports, the Miami Dolphins. The Jets have swept the Dolphins for the last 200 years b/c the organizations couldn't be more polar opposites of each other.

Focus please. This latest discussion about why your team is all-time great worthy is about Clyde Gates. Not once in your example did anyone already proclaim Gates was great.

Hope. It's a funny thing. I know for a fact you have hope that the Jets season will be more like their elite years (sarcasm) rather than .500.

do you have to take every word literally? the point is the Gates talk was nonstop about how good he would be and now that he is gone he sucks just like so many before him. Whether it was telling me how great Calvin pace was when rumors had Miami signing him then telling me how he sucked when we signed him or how great a coach Saban was going to be or Cameron, Sparano and now Philbin. How great Daunte was, Green, Henne,... How great Hartline was going to be become, gates, etc...

Apparently the Jests are doing more dumpster diving for WRs. They have reportedly tried out ex-Dolphin Derek Hagan who played for part of last season for the Bills and was cut by them last week.

Maybe somebody should explain to Mike Tannenbaum that the point of picking through the NFL scrapheap for future Super Bowl MVPs is to improve your team, so maybe he should look at the WRs that great passing teams like GB and NO cut rather than at the WRs that couldn't even make teams with, ahem, very modest passing games.

Actually, the Bills didn't sign anybody to their active roster from the last cuts, so no, they didn't pick through the NFL trash bin looking for players. Several of their cuts were signed by other teams however. They did sign several practice squad players from other teams.

Buddy Nix also didn't babble on about holding a "mini draft" from final cuts like Mike Tannenbaum did.

Actually, this is the first year that the Bills did NOT bring in some players from the 53-man cuts, which says they didn't see anybody out there better than what they already have. I'm sure there are other teams around the league that passed on making roster moves, too.

They did make a move late in preseason to secure a better backup QB than Tyler Thigpen by trading a 7th for Tarvaris Jackson. They could have probably waited to the final cuts, but they didn't want to take the chance of him going elsewhere. A competent backup QB with starting experience is definitely worth a 7th rounder.

You Jests fans, like your GM, seem to think there are Super Bowl MVPs being cut at the end of the preseason. There aren't. The best ones are youngsters who get caught up in numbers games, and so can help teams that are thin at those positions. I'm sure if some team cut a Pro Bowl 4-3 MLB in his prime, the Bills would be have rushed to "kick the tires", but those guys don't get cut at the end of preseason; they get released or traded before their roster bonuses hit. The Bills and numerous other NFL teams did their shopping back in March and April when the inventory was fresh rather than waiting for the end-of-season clearance sales from the picked over stuff that didn't sell.

what you fail to understand is that you aren't looking for great players at cutdown day but guys that can contribute, guys that can develop. Good organizations are always looking to add talent, when you think your roster is settled you are mistaken. That's bad management if you think your job is done at cutdown day.

We are not really looking for a SB MVP out of Clyde. He might not even see the field IF he even makes it through the first few games. He'll be a special teamer and a safety blanket incase Hill and Schilen get injured.

Are we really discussing this about a guy thats probably ranked 53rd on the Jets squad?

Funny thing is, I was watching Hard Knocks last night. That organization has tons of signs reading "Champions play here" and "Champions practice here". I wonder if they were referring to the Steelers/Pats/Giants? Cuz Dolphins haven't come close to winning a playoff game in a decade.

Seems like your team has a lot of "safety blankets" and NOT too many stars. BTW, did Schilens even play in a preseason game or was he such a non-entity that he didn't even get hit in the back by a Sanchez pass or get over-thrown by Tebow.

How about their two wins in the playoffs against Brady? Are they better than all ur playoff wins in the entire history? Im not sure how a Bills fan can even make such an argument.

A few of the Bills playoff wins at least got the them tickets to the Super Bowl. The Jets recent wins, which is what you were bragging on, got the Jets nothing. It's NOT how many playoff games a teams wins, it's where they end up. DOH.

Yeah, but you wasted a top 5 pick on Gholston. You didn't get anything for him, either.

You know what those tickets to the Super Bowl got you? Nothing.

Coming from a Jets fan that's ridiculous. You guys hang your hat on appearing in two consecutive AFCCG.

I don't hang my hat on anything. Just think that it's kind of amusing that a Jills fan wants to talk about Super Bowls.

Yes we did. We got Maybin. That roster spot eventually went over to Maybin.

Two things. 1. Schilen was injured through out the preseason. 2. Hill killed ur secondary.
