Both outlets are owned by Rupert Murdoch's media company News Corporation. The analysis by the science-policy nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) finds that 93 percent of primetime program discussions of global warming (http://www.livescience.com/topics/global-warming/) on Fox News are inaccurate, as are 81 percent of Wall Street Journal editorials on the subject.

"It's like they were writing and talking about some sort of bizarre world where climate change isn't happening," study author Aaron Huertas, a press secretary at UCS, told LiveScience.
"It's clear that we're not having a fact-based dialogue about climate change," Huertas added.

The report, available online (http://www.ucsusa.org/assets/documents/global_warming/Is-News-Corp-Failing-Science.pdf), focused on Fox News and the Journal because of both anecdotal and academic reports suggesting high levels of misleading climate chatter in each. UCS researchers combed through six months of Fox News primetime programs (from February 2012 to July 2012) and one year of Wall Street Journal op-eds (from August 2011 to July 2012), for discussions of global warming.....

The organization called on News Corp. to examine their climate-change reporting standards and to help their staff differentiate between opinions on global warming and scientific fact.

"This is happening no matter what, so we can have a sober adult conversation about it and figure out what to do, or we can turn it into another hot-button ideological issue (http://www.livescience.com/22069-polarization-climate-science.html)," Heurtas said. "Frankly, we already have enough hot-button ideological issues. I don't think we need another one."

Know this is a bit of a no brainer, but this time people actually went through and dug through reports.

Climate Change is a part of this I am not worried about. It kind of reminds me of the Vatican in Galileo's time. Eventually the facts will become undeniable. Also we are talking about a group of people in the US which is only a small part of the world(most of whom accepts this as fact). The sceptics will eventually come around on this though it may take a couple more seasons of record heat waves and extreme weather.

Then they will just start banning science like North Carolina.

The Republican-majority North Carolina legislature today passed a bill placing a 4-year ban on acknowledging rising sea levels due to global warming when considering coastal development within the state. The bill now goes to Governor Bev Purdue (Democrat), who thus far has not indicated whether or not she intends to sign it into law.

Climate change has become a ideological(and theological) debate and partisan tool. Even when the evidence is thrown right in their face, i have no doubt all they will try and do is suppress it...much like science has been suppressed throughout history.

That said, thats not the part of this article that bothers me. Its the overwhelming numbers of misinformation from "news sources" that bothers me.

Big Oil pays the GOP. The GOP pays Fox News. Fox News does PR for Big Oil.
