Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Jose Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonafacio to the Blue Jays. Marlins get Yunel Escobar, Adeiny Hechevarria, Henderson Alvarez, Justin Nicolino and Jake Marisnick.

Well... they are getting some pretty good prospects

I'm only mad about this because the residents of Miami got totally ****ing screwed up the ass on that Marlins stadium.

Thanks a bunch, Carlos Alvarez.

As a Braves fan, I hate when the Marlins have a fire sale. It seems they usually win the Fall classic within 3 yrs.

Can't lie . . . I'm SHOCKED by this. I know I shouldn't be, but after totally screwing over the city of Miami and then feeding us with this BS about "we're going to spend the money" . . . I actually thought the Marlins would become a team that does what they can to fill the seats and spend the bucks to become a contender.

I mean they blew up the OB for this ****ing baseball team . . . when all the hell the city of Miami wanted is to renovate the OB. Unbelievable. I mean seriously . . . Reyes, JJ and Bueherle? Plus we lost Anibal, Infante and Hanley . . . I mean who the hell is on this team now? I seriously can't name 5 players. May as well call them the Miami Stantons, because thats about it.

As much as we all wanted to believe otherwise, we all should have known this is exactly how it was going to go down. Is it a surprise that Loria and Samson are repellent pieces of ****? Nope. This is what you expect from filthy **** faced goat****ers. Those two miserable ****ing turds and the corrupt political weasels royally ****ed over Miami. If this were a more just and civilized culture we would burn them at stakes. They stole our money. Destroyed a holy site. Pissed on the public trust. I'm not remotely surprised because this is who Loria and Samson are and have always been. Two of the most shameless criminals in this state's history. I kept saying this is how it was going to go down even though I really hoped it wouldn't.

I've been a Marlins fan since day one. This might be the breaking point. I wouldn't mind folding the team. We had our run. Let's call this the end while we can still remember the good times. No more debacles and robbing a struggling city in the midst of a recession. But whatever happens Loria and Samson have to pay. There has to be some legal recourse against those criminal sons of whores. The city should be able to get together and string up old west style. Let Conine take a few swings at them. They have killed the Marlins. While that stadium will become an empty post modern ****hole haunted by the ghosts of the Orange Bowl.

We're doomed until Bud Selig forces Loria out of baseball, ala Frank McCourt and the Dodgers.

When he fired Guillen instead of his slave boy Samson, the writing was on the wall.

I really wanted to go see a game at the new ballpark. Not anymore.

I had Le Batard's show on when this story broke and none of them could conceal their disgust. Le Batard called it a betrayal. And Stugotz says "I can't wait to hear Samson try and spin this on the show tomorrow."

It is disgusting. I can't even speak on this without becoming irate. And the reason why I become irate has little to do with the actual deal itself or baseball in general.

Dan is 100% dead on. This is a mega-betrayal. These guys betrayed the great city of Miami and its tax payers who footed 80% of this stadium build. Now it's all for not. Even if Selig steps in and says no dice, the damage is done. Loria and Samson have urinated on the community. The tax paying citizens of Miami-Dade County were hoodwinked into paying for this stadium and weren't even given the option of paying to remodel the Orange Bowl.

Now, we have this gorgeous $515M stadium out in the middle of Little Havana, and nothing to really show for it. All of this baseball stuff is secondary. I love the city of Miami. I love South Florida and this is all heart breaking.

A couple years old, but still funny. The end of this video however is painfully appropriate for Marlins fans and Miami residents in particular.

ESPN and other pundits couldn't have been more wrong when they thought the Marlins would make the playoffs last year. Now what? I guess the A.L. East got a little more interesting with this trade.

So they got the county to py for a stadium and then proceed to field a payroll that can probably be covered by the revenue sharing they get from the big market's luxury tax. Straight profit son!

http://www.finheaven.com/images/imported/2012/11/makeitrainguys1-1.gif

Seriously though, thas ****ing robbery. If I were a marlins fan or a resident of that county, theres no way I could even go to that stadium just out of principle.

rumors are starting to circle around that the MLB may force Loria to sell the Marlins. It's all premature and just rumors, but there is some talk.

If it were to happen, according to satellite, there are 2 names up to buy the team. One is Mark Cuban (who has been desperately trying to buy a team for a few years), and the other is Mickey Arison (who the other owners would prefer)

“We finished in last place. Figure it out,” a defiant Loria said.
Loria emphatically said he isn’t selling the team.
“Absolutely not,” Loria said. “That’s more stupidity.”
Loria took issue with the coverage and suggested selling the team’s veteran stars was the right course of action.
“We have to get better,” Loria said. “We can’t finish in last place. We finished in last place. That’s unacceptable.”

Meanwhile, the team is reportedly also looking to trade outfielder/first baseman Logan Morrison and starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco, according to Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post:
The Yankees are interested in the 30-year-old Nolasco, reports Erik Boland of Newsday (https://twitter.com/eboland11/status/268785808851484672). One player the team almost certainly will not shop is 23-year-old slugger Giancarlo Stanton, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro (http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/2012/11/14/marlins-not-intending-to-trade-stanton/).

Just heard that Selig claims to be reviewing the "trade" but already has established his BS wiggle room by saying he's consulted with several baseball men who think the Marlins got good value in return. What a crock.

My new sig: too subtle?

Yunel Escobar, the biggest piece from the Jays, has subsequently been traded to the Rays for Derek Dietrich.

With a Ricky Nolasco trade, that would bring the Marlins payroll below $20 million.
