I recently had a chance to talk with Sun Sentinel Sports writer Ethan Skolnick and here's what he had to say.

I found the comment about Seau interesting. If true, I wonder how Seau felt he should've been used. Miami blitzed with him more than they normally do with their LB's. I guess he's just upset that he was taken out on 3rd downs....but Miami was probably right for doing that IMO.

The media interviewing the media? Who knew?

Good Job Migs!!

I believe it's like Gladsadmad said, Junior was extremely PO when he had to come out on third downs. I remember watching last year as the downs changed he would look over at the sideline as if to say "I'm not coming out again am I?"

Sure enough most every third down he was out.

i noticed ES was vague in most of his answers and responded as if things haven't really changed. that could be a good thing or a bad. hopefully the media can't read spielman and are assuming that things have not changed. personally i think he has a few "tricks" up his sleeve. otherwise, it is gonna be a long 2004.

Just checked in here, thought I would post.

Noticed the last message.

Have to be somewhat vague for competitive reasons. Don't read into too much. We've got three good newspapers down here -- sometimes, I can't say all that Alex and I know on a given day, because we're competing with the other papers and their beat writers/columnists. You never know what the other papers have until stories start posting after 1 a.m.

But from what I'm hearing, I feel pretty good about the direction the team will take in free agency, right from the start. I think they'll actually spend some $ this time, on bonuses. Most of that $ will be spent on the line, obviously. They'll get a WR or two early in the draft. Been hearing that for a few weeks now. By now, it's out there, so I feel safe writing it here.

As for Seau, I've heard that from other players. Hard to confirm for the paper, cause guys don't want to be quoted, which is why you haven't seen it written. But we checked it out, and it's almost certain that he'll be back.

Miguel does a hell of a job, by the way. Gotta go, busy day as you might guess....

:whew: I'm just half of that at 16.

Don't worry Ethan, at least you don't work for WQAM. Home of the Middle Aged White Men. :D

I know you will bump into Jason Cole at some point or another.

Please tell him he got "scooped" by a UPS driver.

UPS driver??

I thought you were Master of the Universe.

Well Clark Kent has his newspaper thing.

I got to have some kind of disguise.

I can't just go around being the Ruler of the Universe all of the time. It would intimidate people. Don't you think? :D

hey ethan thanks for stopping buy. it's good to know that the fans are important enough from some people in " the know" to let us know what they think, as much as they can anyway.

as for the vague comment, i just think based on the recent articles and recent events that there is a lot of "wait and see" going on. i too am excited about what i've seen and some of what i hear and am fairly positive spielman will do more of what this team needs than "play it safe" wanny. that just seems to be the impression i get from the media. we will soon see...

oh yea, congrats on the advancement. 30 was no problem for me. it was 31 that gave me problems...lol. hope it goes better for you. welcome to thirtysomething.

Interesting that he thinks Fiedler will win the job again this year. Argh.
