It makes sense......he is a guy that was going to lose his senate seat anyway...so why not pick him and try to save a senate seat?

He is an ambulance chasing lawyer scumbag. Clump, if Kerry had picked Osama Bin Laden, you would still like the choice....who are you kidding.

They say that you can tell alot about a guys leadership style by his first major decision while running for president (picking a vp)....

Well, he picked an ambulance chasing 1-800 number lawyer. typical.

Kerry wanted McCain. I'm sure you would have said that McCain was a horrible choice if McCain accepted the offer to be Kerry's VP. :rolleyes2

Edwards isn't a bad choice. McCain would have been better and would have really helped Kerry, but Edwards isn't a bad alternative.

Actually, I would have been behind McCain. That would be solid. I would even consider Powell as VP.

As Kerry said himself, this is not the time for on the job training when describing Edwards when they were running against each other earlier this year. I think Kerry chose poorly, Edwards will either out positive Kerry and in turn make Kerry look and doom, or Edwards’s inexperience will be a dragging force on the DEM ticket.

However on the positive side for Edwards this boosts him to the top for '08 Presidential race. I predict Edwards will beat out Hillary in '08 to be the DEM representative for President.

What's funny is the moment it became public who Kerry was choosing the stock market futures dropped 20 points. LoL.

As a REP I like the pick of Edwards very much. The only pick I would have liked better would have been Hillary "SOCIALIST" Clinton. Talk about a sure fire win for Bush!

Oh, but I do like the pick.......That's the problem for you guys.... ;)

I agree with ohall...only Hillary would have been better......Gephardt would have been nice...but he is actually pretty strong in missouri....This guy Edwards is a real loser.....he was running behind against "any republican" for his senate seat....That is the definition of a "No help" candidate.

Edwards brings nothing.

These would have been better choices:

Lee Hamilton
Evan Bayh
Mark Warner
Tom Vilsack
Sam Nunn

Evan Bayh actually would have given me pause.

So in other words.....Edwards sucks.

Powell won't take a VP spot for Kerry any more than he would have for Bush. His family is just too scared of what the repurcussions might be. As far as Edwards, good choice for Kerry, out of those available Edwards is the most articulate and moderate.

Edwards brings us Southern support, as well as the young vote. I didnt know hes 51, I thought he was 35. Bob Grahmn wouldve been a good pick, but Edwards suits me fine, I knew he was going to be the pick anyway.

Edwards lost his bid for the presidency because he sucked in the south. So you are wrong. He does not help at all. Bob Graham is wacky. He was not picked because he has that diary that he keeps that some people find to be wierd or crazy or both. (he writes down everything he does....like: "woke up, ate two eggs, had coffee, phone rang, it was a crank call.")

Your'e right......Did you see my list of good VP choices? Lurch picking the breack girl is exactly why I vote Republican....these are just not serious people.

That list had good americans and democrats but they stood no chance with lurch.

So they will have the breck girl and a loss come november.

You consistenly criticize Moore for out of line comments but saying Kerry picked 'an ambulance chasing 1-800 number lawyer' is ludicrous:

Edwards is a self-made multimillionaire who made his money on corporations that he says wronged middle- and lower-class Americans.
How does that make him an 1-800 ambulance chasing lawyer ????

Edwards's lack of foreign policy experience and political seasoning could become a problem...but he brings a couple things Kerry lacks (as well as Gephard and other candidates):
Youthful good looks, a self-assured manner and an upbeat, optimistic style that attracts YOUNG voters...

Edwards made his name as a "personal Injury Lawyer."

That is an Ambulance chaser.

Edwards ran an add on TV with a 1-800 number.

Thus the 1-800 number comment.

So is there anything that was really out of line?

I described the Breck Girl perfectly.

Lawyers help me out here...Is there a lot of money to be made as an ambulance chasing 1800 lawyer ?
I'm pretty sure that was early on in his career, because I doubt 1-800 lawyers become successful politicians and make a lot of money ???

Marino1983

"Glorying in your own ignorance" isn't an attack, it's an observation. If you use a word which is not only innapproriate, but also innaccurate, that's ignorance. If you do so after it has been repeatedly demonstrated to be innapropriate, but also innaccurate, than I must assume that you are being ignorant by choice(sounds like an oxymoron, but the human brain is just so darned flexible in it's neurosis). If you are being ignorant by choice and doing so in a repeated and public fashion, than it seems that you are glorying in that ignorance. As for being a Conservative Republican, they wouldn't have me. I'm Pro-Choice, for the decriminalization of drugs, for the legalization of pot, for gay rights, for environmental concerns, against fundamentalist Christianity, and against pretty much every "blue law" ever written by the Right Wing. But my stance on those issues doesn't gibe with your ability to label everyone who disagrees with you as a NeoCon, so I guess you choose to ignore those facts as well. Again..."glorying in your own ignorance". One last thing...are you actually accusing me of living on this forum when you have more than 2000 more posts than I do?

Being from NC, I like the Edwards pick, though I won't give them my vote. IF Edwards had been the primary candidate, I would have given the democrats some thought. But not with Kerry in the front.

Anyway, I think I better stand up and question why he's just a "scum bag lawyer". That bugs me, he's really a great guy. Yes, he's a lawyer, but he's not a frivilous one. I want a good 'ole country boy to rise up and become presidnet as much as anyone else, but it just won't happen. Kerry is privilaged, no doubt, but after having met him on a personal level, he's a geniune person. Smart, and inexperienced, but not blinded by pary lines as much as other democrats I could name.

I wish I could agree with you....But John Edwards voting record has mimicked the Hillary Clinton's and Ted Kennedy's as well as the John Kerry's......Edwards ceased to be a moderate very early in his first two years in office...it has gone "progressively" down hill.

Allow me to point out the fallacy in clear terms for you. I have been here 7 fewer months than you. I have 2021 fewer posts. Doing the math, I have an average of 134 posts per month. You however have 169 posts per month. So your declaration that my posting frequency precludes me having a life as full as yours is ridiculous. The fact that you post more on other forums than I do...well...perhaps in your world those forums are more important. In my world politics and war are slightly more important. Am I going too fast? Do I need to restate this more slowly?
