This is off-topic, but I'll ring in...

Trading Odom + Grant + 1st Round Pick = Too much

Let's face it, Odom is a young up and comer with great potential, Grant is a great rebounder and defensive player, and Shaq is a cry baby.

He's only got a few season left in him too IMO. He doesn't play with the same intensity he use to, and he's lazy. Right now, the Heat is fast, young, and explosive.

Without Odom and Grant, things could get worse....

I'm sorry, but there are plenty of options at C other than Shaq. Less media hyped, and less expensive too. Shaq can play elsewhere as far as I'm concerned, becasue wherever he goes, he'll probably retire after two seasons....

We need to keep what we have, and add the best Center we can find. Worry about it later, and keep the current unit intact...

HEAT RULES!!!

HEAT RULES!!! Its definitly going to make them a better team, there is no doubt about it but your right I dont think its good for the long run. Who care though as long as they win a championship while Shaq is there. Thats what it is all about isnt it?

You truly don't have a clue what you're talking about.

We're trading an overpaid 32-year old, a POTENTIAL superstar, and a low first round pick for the most dominating player in the NBA(even at 32).

I love Lamar Odom, but if we can keep Wade, Caron, & overrated Eddie Jones(who will get a LOAD of open shots), get Shaq, and STILL have the MLE to get 1 more starter...PEACE!

And by the way, there is no centers left in free agency.

Sorry, but Greg Ostertag isn't my idea of an "upgrade" over Brian Grant. :shakeno:

Sorry, but Greg Ostertag isn't my idea of an "upgrade" over Brian Grant. :shakeno:Erick Dampier, and Vlade Divac are both un-restricted free agents

HEAT RULES!!!

Well, responding to my original post now that the Shaq deal is officially done, I have to adjust my stance somewhat....

I'm a big HEAT fan, and I've been a season ticket holder for about 8 years now.The 2003 HEAT were one of the most exciting, and well groomed young teams emerging out of the East, and all they really needed was to add a decent C this off-season IMO....

Well, now we've got Shaq. In the process however, we lost my favorite player L. Odom  , a great leader in B. Grant  , a fresh young up and comer in C. Butler  , and a first round draft pick. That's even more than I expected yesterday when C. Butler wasn't relly oart of the deal...

My problem with this senario???....

Shaq is just one man. He's getting old, and he's also a very unpredictable person IMO. I worry that he may not fit in down here, and I worry that he could destroy the team chemistry...

Someone stated in this mornings news paper, "Automatically you're the best team in the East if you have Shaq on your team."........

Really??? I thought the Detroit Pistons were this years NBA Champions??? If I recall correctly, they are from East too....

Oh, and didn't they beat the Lakers, who had not only Shaq, but a load of talent with Kobe, Payton, Malone, ect ect....

I have to support this team, and I WILL!! I'm really excited too see Shaq in action. Can we get by the Pistons though????....I'm not so sure....

LET'S GO HEAT!!!!

Shaq will make this team better, thats the one thing I know for sure. Odom and Butler are two great players but realistically even if they continue to get better they'd still never bring a championship to Miami. Grant was a hard worker but he was getting paid 13 million a year. Even though these facts are clear to me, I'm still against this trade. Shaq could bring a championship, but I'd still rather enjoy watching my team. Shaq is gonna make the Heat boring again. Every once and awhile Wade will make a great play, but our team game plan is gonna be "pass low to shaq". Also, I loved LO and Caron. I don't really care if they won it all, I felt like they were my guys. I think they really loved the Heat and its fans. Does anyone think Shaq really cares about the Heat and its fans? This is a great business deal for Arison, Merchandise sales will be waaaaaay up, almost every game will be a sellout and the Heat will be on national TV every week probably. And we'll probably win alot, because Shaq is still a dominating player. But no win will ever feel as good with shaq as it did with LO, Caron and Brian.

Shaq's great, but teams win, and I don't know this trade left us with much of a team and Shaq isn't going to be the player he was.

Vlade's re-signing with the Kings. He's already said so.

Heat fans: Who is going to be your starting forwards? Shaq, EJ, Wade and who else?
