"If you are a naive, uncommitted voter and wander into a theater, you aren't going to come away with a good impression of the president," Republican operative Joe Gaylord said. "It's a problem only if a lot of people see it."

Joe Gaylord... is actually an old friend. I used to deal with him when he directed the National Republican Congressional Committee and I was doing campaigns. His wife and I later worked together as part of a three man political consulting shop in DC.

And his name always struck me the same way.

Are you aware just how HUGE of a shmuck you sound like every time you say "your President"? It's the kind of thing a bratty 8 year old girl would keep repeating. It's also insulting to see someone flaunt the Constitution over, and over, and over like that. News flash, the on ething about America that ABSOLUTELY deserves respect is the Constitution. It's the ONLY thing that separates the US from every other country. Would it be THAT tough to show it a LITTLE respect?

What was wrong with this? I posted an article from the AP to get a discussion started. A republican consultant could see a personal problem in the election for the incumbent President due to this movie. I wanted to get some topics started that are from my political views; because most of the posters I have read from in here are staunch Bush supporters. I am sorry if it is not as good of a topic as going to war with France and killing French people. :shakeno:

I have heard worse comments made about Clinton from the Republican side. But I find that funny that if you dare criticizes Bush that you are labeled as "Un-American" and if we don't love this country we should get the Hell out. But when Rush, Hannity, Colters, and many others said things about Clinton the where never labeled as Un-American. Funny how that works.

I can promise you that if Kerry wins and I hear a Republican say that he's "your President", I'll give him EXACTLY the same speech. I dislike Kerry on a personal level. Worse, I think he will get a LOT of people killed. But if he is elected he will be MY President. I'll feel free to disagree with him, and critisize him EXACTLY the way you should feel free to disagree with and criticize Bush. But that won't change the fact that he is still my nations President. I wouldn't disrespect the Constitution by declaring otherwise.

Umm how do you compare REP's criticizing a President who lied under oath to DEM's who are going after the President on a subject they all agreed with the President? Kerry and Edwards all agreed with Bush about the invasion of Iraq. In fact those TWO made even stronger cases to invade Iraq than Bush #43 ever did.

Sorry dude. Most of you DEM's seem to miss the point. When you BASH the President about this war you are bashing your own canidates! This is what Hannity means by Kerry's constant flip flopping!

Yeah Hannity is a real moron for talking about reality and Kerry's flip flopping.

Cool...but since Plymouth was settled in 1620, and Virginia in 1606, I assume that you mean that your family has been here for 400 years before the present, NOT before there WAS a country(that would put you in the 1300's). Unless of course you are a native American in which case your family was here much longer than 400 years. So, your family was part of the original Virginia colony?

Mod Note: bigfinfan, in general, you can say what you want. But for the purposes of this forum, ease up on instructing other individual members what you think they ought do. All opinions are welcome here whether you think those who express them should be welcome in this country or not.

P4E - I did not intend to offend anyone with my comments. It was not directed at a specifiec member or any one in general. It was just a statement on how I feel. My statement was simple:

If you don't love America and everything that we stand for, you should get the hell out!

If you don't understand how good you got it, go visit another Country and see how people live.

Why do people live here if they don't love what America has to offer?

------------------------------------------------------------------

modestophinfan - Personally, I don't care if you agree with President Bush or not. Please read the above italicized text. That is the statement that I made - it does not mention President Bush at all.

Additionally, when were my ancestors in Poland?

-----------------------------------------------

I love this Country and everything that we she stands for; If I did not love her, I would not defend her like I do!

Actually, I'd like to know how those relatives were growing potato's in Poland 400 years ago. The potato comes from North America, and I'm pretty sure that it's use wasn't terribly widespread in Eastern Europe in 1600.

Here is some interesting info about the potato:

The potato is native to South America.

The name of the famous potato, the worlds number one vegetable is probably a corruption of the Indian name for the plant -- patata or papa.

When explorers first encountered Peruvian Indians they found them preserving potatoes by drying them in the sun. Something they still do today and something apparently, they have been doing for a very, very long time. Scientists believe the Peruvian Incas improved the wild potato of Peru, which is small and bitter, as it slowly gained importance in their diet.

Prehistoric caches of dried potatoes have been found. The dried potatoes could be pounded into flour, or reconstituted whole. It must have made a fairly thick and nutritious soup. An important crop that could be preserved from year to year, the potato, along with maize, was the underpinning of the great Incan civilization.

The white potato was unknown in Central or North America until after Pizarro conquered Peru and spread their potato culture via Spanish forts and ships. Sweet potatoes were used in the West Indies and Central America and in the Southern part of North America. They were referenced in the journals of Columbus and Magellan. They were called "batatas".

The potato was brought to Ireland, in 1565, according to one story. Another has it that Sir Walter Raleigh first grew it there in 1585. Either way, it soon became a national mainstay in the Irish diet. The Irish introduced the potato to New England in 1719, when Irish immigrants settled at Londonderry, New Hampshire.

In Europe, a grain famine, in 1770, caused the potato to become an important crop. A French leader, Parmentier, set up soup kitchens serving potato soup to the starving masses. Today, in France, potato soup bears his name.

The potato helped change American history when in 1847--1848 a terrible famine struck Ireland due to the failure of the Irish potato crop. It is estimated 1,500,000 Irish people died, while another 1,000,000 emigrated, chiefly to the United States of America.

The new Irish-American citizens infused the growing industrialization of the North with cheap labor, and brought their music, culture and political ideaologies with them.

The Irish always stick up for the underdog. And it wasnt long before the new American citizens had a chance to do just that in a very important Presidential election.

Between Lincoln and Douglas, Lincoln was considered the least likely to win. Douglas often made sneering disparaging remarks about Lincolns poverty stricken background. -- Something he shouldnt have done within hearing of the likewise-stricken Irish.

The large Irish vote was a deciding factor in electing President Lincoln who as President, brought the Civil War to its ultimate culmination. An American war many Irish immigrants fought and died in. It was also a war that changed forever the future of Americas black citizens.

And, all due to a lowly tuberous vegetable growing wild, first found by prehistoric Indians living high in the Andean Mountains. The mysterious and amazing potato.

Name something you love or honor, something dear to you, -- your God if you're religious, a beloved child, a departed person you cherish and respect.

Now... swear to me on that person or thing that your Poland comment was not an overt or implied attempt at an ethnic slur. You comfortable with that?

I'm pretty sure that whatever response you offer to this other than an acknowledgment or apology is going to make me feel ill and think less of you than I did when I first read the Poland comment.

How can anyone take Moores movies seriously:dunce: ?.It has snipets of actual film footing but the sequences are edited in such a fashion to bring the worst light on the subject.Have you ever heard the expression "Taken out of context"Think about it. If footage had existed on JesusChrist, Moore could have made him look like he was a terrorist that belonged to Al Qaeda by just editing and inserting sound effects and superposition.

His style reminds me of Hitlers propaganda movies.:nate: except he was smart.
Besides it has been proved that many times the "facts" :rtfm: he has used are just plain wrong. Its just plain and simple demagoguery.
