Sure, Kansas often grabs a spot in the upper half of the AP preseason college basketball poll, but the school hasn't been No. 1 since a player named Wilt Chamberlain suited up for the Jayhawks in the 1950s.

Kansas stood atop The Associated Press' Top 25 on Monday, the 13th straight season the Jayhawks have been ranked 11th or higher in the first poll.

The Jayhawks received 25 first-place votes and 1,697 points from the national media panel, edging Wake Forest, which had 22 first-place votes and 1,680 points.

Warrick will be good but it's up to McNamerra (sp) to step up because he struggled at time last year and hurt Cuse more then he helped them. Duke wil win it. Everyone is talking Carilona, Wake, G.Tech, Maryland, please. Duke owns this teams. Look back at the last 6 years. Duke owns the ACC. Deng and Duhon are gone from a final 4 team and that will hurt them (especially Deng's talent and Duhon's leadship) but I think Daniel Ewing is ready to become a star (he could be player of the year, don't sleep on him) and Williams and Reddick already are. Randolph and Dockery's are wildcards. If they play to their potential Duke will be downright scary. Depth is another key to Duke's success. The more they stay out of foul trouble, the more games their going to win!!

Not a chance, they'll be a top 15-20 type team but they will not compete for a FF or Nat'l Title.

Both polls have the top 4 correct(KU, UNC, WF, GT) although illinois is right there as well. I'm being a homer but I think this is the year that carolina is truly back and they'll be cutting down the nets in St. Louis as Roy Williams follows some other great coaches(Calhoun, gary Williams, Boeheim) who have gotten the monkey off their back recently when ti comes to winning a Nat'l Title.

Look back at the last 6 years. Duke owns the ACC

The ACC was also at it's weakest poitn in history during most of the past 6 years and prior to thatCarolina dominated duke so what is the point? Things change and duke is not loaded w/ talent like usual. They have some good playesr in Ewing and Williams and a promising freshman in nelson9althoug he's hurt so that could be a setback) but redick is the most overrated player in the Country. He's hailed as the game's best 3 pt shooter but he's nowhere to be found amongst the leaders either in the ACC or Nationally and the next big shot he makes will be his first. In order for duke to be really good they need Williams to saty out of foul trouble, nelson to be a big time player rigth away, randolph to live up to his hype and redick to live us to his hype. it's not happening. Williams and randolph are your front court and they both are always in foul trouble and you have NO depth this year. Duke won't be bad but they won't be nearly as good as Carolina, Wake & Tech and if they don't watch out State and Maryland too.

SU is almost 10 deep this year! With quality!

Terrance Roberts is the 2nd coming of Derrick Coleman. Nichols and Pace are just so reliable and do everything well. Watkins is a monster in the middle to back up Forth.

Josh Wright is an amazing freshmen. And oh yeah.......we don't even have Billy Edelin back yet! LOL

No question we should have but did you notice the difference last night w/ Raymond in the lineup? and did you notice duke struggled w/ Davidson?

Duke has owned us lately but before this latest stretch the Heels owned duke for a long time and those days are returning this year.

No. 19 Alabama 90, Alaska-Anchorage 55

The Crimson Tide (3-0) shot 62 percent from the field (20-for-32), including 6-for-11 from 3-point range. A basket by Ronald Steele with 12:01 remaining in the second half gave the Crimson Tide its biggest lead, 69-29, and Alabama closed it out with reserves. Osborne said his inexperienced Division II Seawolves (1-2) met a veteran Southeastern Conference power
