A siren?

Watch out it might be the FBI embedded in your cpu fan...

Seriously bud, It could be a bunch of things from your power supply to your HDD to something little caught in one of your motherboard fans..

Does your hard disk drive make grinding noises when reading/writing?

Anything else you notice acting weird?

It's probably a fan.... usually the one in the power supply is the culprit.

That's usually the thermal alarm, warning of critical heat.

Check your CPU fan and make sure it's spinning (and/or correctly mounted).

Thus it may be the hard drive. If this is the same computer you're having problems installed Windows... then I'ld look into a new HDD.

Sounds like the bearings in the CPU Fan are shot!
