The Auburn Tigers were pleading for someone -- anyone -- to vote them No. 1. They must have sensed that giving up two late touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl all but ruined their improbable hope of sharing the national championship.

No, the No. 3 Tigers didn't get their masterpiece.

They settled for hanging onto a perfect season, beating Virginia Tech 16-13 Monday night.

Ah, yes, I predicted this last night. The media will latch onto any reason to deny Utah and Auburn their place in history. If Utah blows out their foe, their foe wasn't worthy. If Auburn wins but it's close, they should have blown them out.

Let's face it, Utah should have played Auburn. What kind of crap was the BCS pulling not playing these two teams in the Sugar? With that said, whoever wins tonight game has as much of a stake to the National Championship as Utah and Auburn. The BCS stinks, end of story. Everyone of these teams proved they should playing for the National Championship and it's ashame they won't get to prove it on the field. No doubt I agree with the voters that USC and OU are the 2 best teams in the country but that is not a fact unless Auburn and Utah got a chance to prove them wrong!

i cant beleive an auburn team that went undefeated in the hardest conference and beat a top ten team is going to get denied even a share of the national championship
