out of all those i would go with light my fire by the doors - that song had the 3 things that defined rock: sex, drugs and rock and roll - one of the few songs not credited to jim morrison - the guitar player wrote that one

Some pop song will be the most heard some in the world not any Led Zeppelin tune.

Some pop song will be the most heard some in the world not any Led Zeppelin tune.
"White Christmas" is the most popular song of all time. Neither Zeppelin NOR a pop song.

I voted "other".

Aerosmith ~ Walk This Way
Cream ~ White Room
Steppenwolf ~ Born To Be Wild

If I ever hear that song again I'll stick forks in my ears.....

:rofl3:

White Room would have been my choice too...amazing song that pretty much defines the rock of that era for me.

But I'll give you props for trying, buddwalk; you couldn't possibly have enough choices for all the different tastes out there. Good list anyway...from that list, I'd say Stairway, although it's not my favorite Zeppelin.

i don't consider the beatles a rock band but thats just me. Don't forget that to some of the folks on the forum think Van Halen and Styk are classic rock :rofl3: but out of what you've given us I'll cast my vote for Floyd

GreenMonster

I voted stairway also... Out of that list it has the best vocals and guitar combo. Love that old school Led Zeppelin.

Since everyone is doing write in votes I'll go with "N.I.B." by Black Sabbath.

Tough call, but I voted for "Satisfaction" -- not because it's my favorite or I think it's the greatest -- but because out of all the songs listed, I think it's the purest example of a Rock and Roll song.

smoke on the water, deep purple, but out of the choices, i'd have to go with led zepplin

I voted Layla, I love that song. All of the songs are great, and it is an impossible poll to answer because so many classic rock songs are really good that it is hard to name which one is the best.

3. Stairway to Heaven

401 BROWNE, JACKSON The Load Out/Stay

Good Lord, I hate this song. Every time it comes on the radio, I scream in pain until I can get to the tuner. And it just goes on and on and on ...

Also, as much as I like George Harrison, i thought "My Sweet Lord" was ridiculous thievery of "He's So Fine."

Just one more comment for the Baba O'Reilly fans. Are you aware of its origin? One of the band members was working on an experimental synthesizer that took vital statistics on a person, translated them into a string of numbers and translated those numbers into pitches. That's where the introduction comes from.

That and Simple Man are two of my all time favs

Jimi never gets enuff respect on these lists. Hey Joe,Purple Haze, All Along the Watchtower(i realize this is a Dylan song, but Jimi made it his own), Bold as Love..all great songs, and i could name many more.

You speak truth. "Purple Haze" has perhaps the most famous guitar riff of all time.
