OK everyone has played the Halo's, GTA's, Doom, etc. What do you guys think are some of the best video games that don't get alot of hype? I really liked "Mafia" for the PC. I found it for 10 bucks in Walmart 2 years ago and it has turned into one of my all time favs.

I wouldn't really call Diablo 2: LOD an underrated game... It was one of the highest selling games ever. My all time favorite game though..before hackers :(

Blood 2 was a really fun game. Got it for 10 $ and it was great. IT was short though, and once I really started getting into it it ended. And Diablo doesnt count, it maybe cheap now, but it was game of the year and everyone has either played it or knows of it. I bought Mafia a few years back and never really played it, maybe ill try it out today.

My favorite under rated game of all time is Guardia Heroes for Sega Saturn. That was an awesome game.

Anything on the Dreamcast!

At least one game that was pretty unique for the day. Jet Grind Radio on the Dreamcast was a bit of Tony Hawk, funky music, and the coolest thing was being able to download whatever JPEG photo you wanted and spray paint it around the city.

JGR was about futuristic kids with jet powered inline skates that went around tagging (spray painting) buildings and running from the cops/military. Odd concept, but actually a lot of fun.

I spent hours spraying the Dolphin logo in the virtual city. You could have done a photo of yourself, your dog/cat or some random hot chick if you wanted, as long as you could find it online with the ingame web browser and it was a JPEG file.

KOTOR was game of the year with almost all major gaming sites.

Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast) was awesome. It was a well liked game, however being on the DC killed it (which was a much better system then the PS2).

The PC game Requiem: Avenging Angel was a really fun game also. The bargin bin at EB has some gems for around 10$

Herzog Zwei for the Genesis - the granddaddy of the RTS game

The Guardian Legend for the NES - one you probably haven't played or even heard of

Do yourself a favor, go to ebay and buy these games.

I played the first KOTOR last year and really liked it too. All the people I ever talked to hated it and that's why I never played it til lately. I bought Command and Conquer generals today. I like those games and hope this one is good too. If no has played Sid Meier's Pirates yet I wouldn't bother, I was disappointed.

Not so much under-rated but relatively unknown - EVE Online. Amazingly addictive and a long term proposition to do anything with. Been playing just over a year and still not scratched the surface of it :D

I dont know if it counts as underrated, becuase its fairly new...but Project Snowblind is REALLY good...if you like games where you can just bust out a shotgun and rambo the living hell out of anything in your path (Doom 3 is good for that too, plus amazing graphics, but a little disturbing lol).

I am 33 year old and grew up on these games. I never had a home console until the NES came out ( my buddy bought one back when they first came out for about $300, I waited some) but my friends had them. Loved D & D on the Intellevision, Venture and COmbat on the 2600, and Rocky 3 on coleco vision. However, the games I remember most came out in the early 80s. EA was still Electronic Arts, and I have some early games from them. Memborable games were Hacker, Ultimas 1-3, Mindshadow, Lords of Conquest, and Archon. If Archon was an online game I would be supreme ruler. My favorite however was this :
http://www.finheaven.com/clear.gif

I played that for days on end. Never got very far, found out later the game was uncompleted. Basically I just roamed around and killed things. That is called misspending your youth.

Certainly.....The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. I have NEVER played a game based on a movie series that I have considered to be excellent until this title. This game has many elements, FPS, stealth, and fighting (even more impressive is that each is done well). The many dimensions shown throughout Butcher Bay in this game gave it a 'personality' of sorts. Almost makes you wish you never end up in a sh!thole like that lol. The graphics were amazing and character models were very well done. The concept for the ending was very well thought out (meaning cryo-sleep). I can't say enough about this game and I highly recommend it. If you play it, don't just play for a bit then stop. You'll be amazed at how this game shifts. Splinter Cell is my all-time favorite series....nothing will ever change that, but I cannot say enough about Chronicles.

KILLSWITCHhttp://www.finheaven.com/images/imported/2005/06/killswitch_xboxbox_160w-1.jpg (http://xbox.ign.com/objects/566/566615.html)

As far as God Of War is concerned.....didn't play? You mean haven't played less than 4 freakin' times? That game is great. One of the attributes that impressed me the most was the weapons Kratos was given. FINALLY! A new concept. Flaming blades bound by chains to Kratos forearms......Great idea. I recieved a surprise the first time I saw a bare pair of breasts mid-cutscene, uncensored. Boss battles were extreme also....hooking the Hydra's eye sockets then slamming its head into the mast....then finishing it off by spearing its chin on the mast you've demolished with it's head.

Kill.Switch: Ok, but the entire game is very repetitive. Walk into room....clear room by shooting around, enter new room find cover repeat. The storyline in this game made about as much sense as John Madden on MNF.

Punisher: I liked the concepts in this game. It's brawler style shooting mixed with Splinter Cell style 'sneak-up-behind and grab to interrogate'. The interrogations are inventive though "Gun Tension" (just don't press too hard lol) "Choke" "Punch" etc. :chuckle: Then the special interrogations got me. The overall gameplay struck me in some ways like Kill.Switch. Enter room clear, move to next room. I liked the storyline format though, it starts from the end with The Punisher in police custody. You replay his accounts of 'where the bloodbath began'. Pretty cool idea to implement.

There was a game for super nintendo that was great. The game is called EVO. It's a saga of evolution, you start off as a fish and gain pointsto add sweet things like razor teeth and an angler. You can evolve all the way up to the caveman. Truly one of the best games ever.

F**kin' right!! I cannot believe I didn't post this. I bought an XBOX FOR THIS GAME! (part II that is, i bought another DC for the first). This series is one of my most favorite ALL-TIME and it really sucks that Yu Suzuki cannot procure the funding to finish the story. I wanna leave Guilin and kick the sh!t outta Lan Di so bad. :chuckle: It has been rumored that the final chapter will possibly be done in movie form because of production costs associated with making it a game. That way the story can reach some form of closure....I'm really pulling for a game though.
