I am next to clueless about cars and their parts and I'm getting interested in race cars. Can someone help me out with the car engine types? I have heard stuff about V6, V8, V10 and even V12 and I know that the higher the number the better the engine is but can someone tell me why that is?

Not nessecarly the better engine is the one higher...preferably i prefer 6 cylanders cause they have great gas milage and more power than a v4...

thats exactly what I want to know, what are cylinders? and what do they do? I know that the more cylinders the more power but also the more gas needed from what I hear

Dont worry about a V10 or V12, you cant afford any car that has them unless you have a rich daddy.

More cylinders means more compression, which equals horse power!!!
