Movie Review:
No Love stories, No Gasoline stops, and Really not much of a PLOT
Just got out of the 12:45 p.m. showing and honestly i can't really bash this movie nor praise it. It definitely had 2 or 3 moments that were really funny and entertaining but I felt as if the movie tried too hard to be funny. The Supertroopers cameo was great but everyone else was just THERE. The best character in the film was SHEEVE played by Kevin Hefferman(Farva from Supertroopers). Sheeve has a theory that the CIA brainwashes Hillbillies so he wears an ARMADILLO helmet to protect him from the CIA Brainwashing....hilarious. Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott were OK as the Dukes but Burt Reynolds and Jessica Simpson were underused a bit. Every moment the General Lee was in was absolutely awesome and that's what keeps the movie from sinking(kind of like the Flight scenes in Stealth saved the movie). The car chases were great but overall this movie leaves you wanting more than just running from the cops 2/3 of the time. There was a really great scene in which the General Lee enters a race with the cops still hot on his tail but trust me guy this is definitely a bonafide DVD rental!!! And for those who were wondering if the confederate flag is on top of the car it is...they make fun of it in the movie...or at least they try. You can put Dukes Of Hazzard somewhere in between Dude Where's my car and Supertroopers but at least It's better than Stealth.....

The Director of this movie is one of my favorite up and coming comedy directors, Jay Chandrasekhar. He's part of the hilarious American Comedy Troupe BROKEN LIZARD and I'm a HUGE Broken Lizard Fan!! They did Supertroopers and the really underrated Club Dread. So i'm really looking forward to see Johnny Knoxvile, The GENERAL LEE , Burt Reynolds, Willie Nelson, STIFLER and the all the Broken Lizard Cameos....they did write the entire screenplay...Oh and By the way We'll get to see Jessica Simpson Strutting around in various skimpy outfits...mmmmm....yummy!

I wasn't going to even pay attention to this movie, but I had no idea Jay Chandrasekhar was directing... I'm also a fan of BL. However, I can't help but think this flick is going to suck.

It's going to have alot of that Broken Lizard Humor for sure so i know it will at least be funny. Just look at it this way, if u wanna laugh at the movies and you haven't seen Wedding Crashers yet (funniest movie of the year)the worst u can get is a fun and entertaining movie. Hey it beats seeing STEALTH or Fantastic Four. If your in the mood to see something else even though Sky High is a "kids" movie it is really good.

I've seen Wedding Crashers way to many times (and it's in my avater). I'll wait for your review.

Actually some good news, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are teaming up for a movie called "outsourced." in 06'. I would love for them to do another one of Wilson's projects "Date School."

Seriously, those two guys are the best duo since PB&J.

For the Broken Lizard fans (especially Super Troopers)...look out for a scene featuring 2 cops we know well.

Every trailer I've seen for that movies has yet to show the roof of the car, which in the show had the Confederate Flag on the roof, hence the name, General Lee. It that's not on the car, I refuse to see it, 'cause that's racial, biased, b.s. I mean, what kind of car can be called that without the flag? It's part of the show, and the rebellious southern pride and freedom that the show portrays, that's all.

That or the racism... (yes I know you "addressed it").

Is it bull**** if it offends someone? I think it's bull**** that it represents "southern pride." As a matter of fact, we should have let the south be it's own country, but I'm just talking semantics and that's another subject.

Anyway... I saw an interview, and it's on the car. Except, they have a scene explaining what the flag means to the south. I'm sure it's going to be the old and tired "pride" thing.

Lol, what do you know about southern pride? Read any books? Has nothing to do with racism as far as I'm concerned, you can thank the sorry *** Klan for that. Yeah, maybe if we were another country, Florida wouldn't have been ruined by subdivision contractors based primarily out of New York State. But like you said, that's another subject. ;) The old and tired pride thing is far from that if you grew up down here. It's just more relaxed and laid back. If you're not from down here with roots, you wouldn't understand, that's all. No hard feelings.

Wow this movie's getting trashed left and right. Locally, the Herald gave it 1 star and the Sun-Sentinal gave it half a star! James Berardinelli also gave it half a star and Peter Travers from Rolling Stone gave it NO stars. Ebert hated it as well (1 star) but his review is amusing. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050804/REVIEWS/50725002

Not that the movie is good or not, I haven't seen it, but his reasons for not liking the movie are narrow minded and ridiculous. Notice he says he 'never saw the show'. If you never saw the show, it would be hard to appreciate the movie even a little bit.

Speaking of the reviews for this movie, there is only one site I ever read the movie reviews from.

http://www.tnmc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1321&Itemid=26

The story, for lack of a better word, has to do with Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds) trying to turn Hazzard County into one giant strip mine. Since this might offend the residents, he sets up a big race to keep them occupied while he launches his evil plan. The Duke boys get wind of it and race around trying to stop the plan. The fact that the once mighty Burt Reynolds agreed to be in this seems to say that he was so broke it was either make this movie or start a second career working the glory hole for tips. I'd make a similarly nasty comment about Willie Nelson but he isn't an actor and was probably too stoned to know what he'd agreed to.
