RICKY SIGNS EXTENSION, WILL RETIRE AFTER 2010 Ricky Williams retired from the Dolphins prior to the start of the 2004 NFL season. Now, Ricky plans on retiring from the Dolphins yet again, this time after the 2010 NFL season. The running back who had one of the best NFL seasons for a running back in 2002 is nearing the end of a controversial career. At the peak of his career, and only 28 years old, Ricky walked away from the game on the eve of Training Camp in 2004 after numerous failed drug tests for marijuana. After missing the entire 2004 season, he decided to return to the NFL and played in 12 games during the 2005 season following a four game suspension. Just when things looked like they were back on track for Ricky, he was suspended for the entire 2006 season for a failed drug test, that was reportedly for a yoga supplement. The suspension actually carried well into the 2007 season and he made his first appearance in late Novemeber on Monday Night Football in Pittsburgh. He carried the ball six times before suffering a season ending torn chest muscle. Since then however, things seem to be back on track as he played all 16 games in 2008. Here we are now, in August of 2009 and Ricky Williams is preparing for another NFL season with the Dolphins. It was a contract year for him, but he and Bill Parcells got together during the offseason and hammered at a new one year contract extension that will keep Ricky in Miami through the end of the 2010 season. Ricky has also expressed to the Dolphins and the media that he plans to retire for good following the 2010 season at the age of 33. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS! |

ARMSTRONG AMONG FOUR RELEASED The Dolphins continued to move forward to determining their final roster as they released four players today. The team waived FB Joe Kowalewski, WR Anthony Armstong, K Connor Barth, and NT Louis Ellis. With today's moves, the team currently has 66 players on the active roster. Between now and September 5th, the team will have to make 13 additional moves to get to the league maximum of 53 players for the regular season. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS! |

AN UGLY WIN! More Questions Than Answers As Miami Outlasts Tampa Bay 10-6 It was a stormy night for the Dolphin's first team offense This is not what you wanted to see in game three of the preseason. The Dolphins went into the game against Tampa Bay hoping to fine tune the machine. Instead they found a clunker. The first team defense and offense both struggled and showed nothing close to their championship form from last year. The offense in particular was in trouble from the beginning as the highly anticipated offensive line gave no openings for backs and no pockets for passers. Chad Pennington was missing receivers and the running game was non-existent through most of the first half. Then came the lightning and the rain and after a 45 minute game delay that seemed to wash away the sins of the bad start, Pennington found his stride and led Miami to a touchdown. The highligt of the game (and there were few) was rookie WR Brett Hartline who showed great hands and an ability to get open. Expect him to claim the other starting position opposite of Ted Ginn. The largest disappointment? A tie between the poor offensive line play and the complete lack of a pass rush by the first team. Honorable mention goes to the starting secondary as Buc receivers were unexplainably wide open. Thank God Leftwich was off the mark as he overthrew open man after open man. If not for his gross inaccuracy the Fins would have lost and lost bad. At this point you would like to be sitting back and feeling great. But now the team has to reflect on a shoddy game and try and make decisions with little to go on from his outing. Opening day looms big and if this same team shows up in Atlanta, it will be a bad start to 2009. TALK ABOUT THE GAME INTHE FINHEAVEN FORUMS! THE INTERNET'S LARGEST MIAMI DOLPHIN COMMUNITY! |

NDUKWE & ALLEMAN TRADED FOR 2010 DRAFT PICK The Dolphins were very busy on Monday. In addition to releasing six players, the Dolphins also traded offensive lineman Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe to the Chiefs in exhange for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick. It is consdiered to be a late round pick. The Dolphins and Chiefs made a draft day trade this past April that sent the Dolphins' 2009 7th round draft pick to Kansas City in exhange for the Chiefs' 2010 7th round draft pick. This means that the choice the Dolphins will be receiving for this trade will be at least a 6th round pick. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS! |
