Jamar Taylor doesn't show up on there for a reason.
He's going to get the redshirt this year. Doubt he plays many snaps of any kind of consequence.
I was much closer to appreciating the Will Davis pick than I was the Jamar Taylor pick, though ultimately neither of the two were on my list of targets. I'm getting a strong vibe that Will Davis should've been though, and I was too swayed by a few bad reps in the Senior Bowl, and his tendency to be a little too aggressive underneath at Utah State (which can be ironed out in coaching, a fact with which I'm well aware). Also, when a guy is downright shameful in tackling, that tends to get my goat. But I should know better that players improve that aspect of their game all the time, and that ultimately a corner's primary job (unless he's in a Tampa Two) is to cover and intercept the football. Ultimately I didn't have great reasons to doubt Will Davis and leaving him off my list of targets was less a deliberate decision based on a lot of research and analysis, and more just not being exposed enough to him to appreciate the positive reasons he should be on the list.
Jamar Taylor was a bit of a different story. I had a lot on him and I still didn't like him. I believe he was over drafted.
I was supportive of the Taylor pick, because I had he and Alford neck-and-neck. I had both guys as top-32, but I obviously didn't know the extent of Taylor's injury. If it's true that he won't make a significant impact this season, I have to wonder what caused us to draft him over Alford - who has about as much physical upside as any CB in the draft. Again, I can absolutely see and appreciate someone preferring Taylor as a player, but I can't see the gap being very wide, and with the injury, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me - especially considering Ireland's situation. My only conclusion can be that the team underestimated the extent of the injury.
